Mine arrived via UPS Yesterday evening ! I was thinking about trying the new Tamron, but thought it would look out of place next to the other two members of my Nikon Trinity. I too shoot a D800 and decided from the beginning to shoot with nothing but the best glass. I purchased mine refurbished directly from Nikon, and saved a few bucks which I'll roll into a Think Tank International case for my trip to Cuba. I took it out last night before it got too dark and shot a few images... Mind Blowing experience ! I LOVE this lens... I've quickly found that a lens this wide requires an adjustment in mental attitude though. The world just looks different when looking through this lens, clearer, sharper, more perfect... Maybe I'm getting too carried away, but I LOVE this lens ! Where has it been all of my life ? Here is my first shot at 14mm. Like I said, It will take some time to understand the dynamics of shooting this wide. Subjects, composition perspective are all things that need rethinking at 14mm...but THAT is why this lens is so much fun. It makes you think ! Buy it and have Fun.

Just in case anyone missed it, where are you going to buy it from, and how much are you getting as a retainer for mentioning their name so many times on the one page?

Hyperfocal distance shooting is a must with this lens. You could easily have gotten the bottom right post in focus along with everything else....

Since you missed it, I was amused (and agreed with) Lighthouse's comment..... and not sure why you interpreted his comment as the result of inebriation?

Definitely not jealous, and the last time I was drunk was over 10 years ago.
No need for the report.
I know what the lens is like.
Its bulky, and heavy, with a bulbous front element that makes any filter kit for the front very cumbersome.
Its a little bit expensive, but quite reasonable considering the build and the quality of the images.
But what the heck, if you want an excuse to mention the stores name a few more times, by all means go ahead.

Thanks!!....I'll remember that....and I agree with you on the description of the lens, but none the less, its the best lens in its class, for super sharp wide angle fotos......

One caveat. The lens is great, no question. However, in my business, mostly sports photography, the lens sits in my lens cabinet most of the time. I find that there is very little that I can't do with my 24-70mm and much cheaper and lighter wide angle prime lens. If you do landscapes primarily, I think it would be your go-to lens. Otherwise, I would not be quick to buy the 14-24mm just to have the trinity. Just my $.02
