I have this lens and a 18-140mm. In extensive comparison the 18-140mm has proven to be sharper 80% of the time and has more pop. It doesn't have the reach but on my 24mp D5300 I can crop down considerably and still have a sharp image. I'm going to ask $320 for my 18-200mm.

If you check around you will find that this lens is very good. Some say that it is second best at everything. Any lens you use will have some drawbacks and some advantages. I feel that the advantages far outweigh the drawbacks.

My D7100 goes with me pretty much all of the time, with that lens attached. I never know what opportunities await, but I am ready. The build quality for the 18-200 is very good. Hence this is the perfect walkabout lens and am very happy with it.

I owned and used the Nikon 18-200 VR lens (bought in 2010) for five years and have recently bought a Sigma 18-300. Nikon was OK but Sigma is cheaper, slightly sharper and has more reach. I do a lot of sightseeing and tourism. So I find the Sigma better.

+1 on Sigma! Sigma has been overlooked and underrated for a long time. On a par with, or better than Nikon, etc. I have five Sigma lenses now and am totally satisfied.
