No beep is one of the draw backs in BBF. The benefits greatly out way though using this feature;
Not on my D200. With BBF it beeps in single....and dosen't in continuous.
my daughter's mother-in-law was using her Nikon during Easter program at church and all you could hear was "beep" flash, "beep" flash, ----
BBF, you don't need the beep.

Larry, when you set it on 'Beep', are you pressing 'OK' in the center of the navigation ring to save it?
Yes I am but the two dashes remain I think it should change to OK.

The beep scares the birds, and shows that you are an amateur. Real photographers turn it off. :)
I agree, I was just trying out features, I don't shot many birds but I do shot
a lot of wildlife 4 legged.
I hear the beep only when my hearing aids are turned on, maybe you need hearing test
Just got two new ones from the va. I didn't plan on using the feature. When I have something new I just like to try out all features. Maybe I'm unique. Nikon says the settings are correct and I should return it. If that's all that's at fault I think I'll keep it.

I received my D7100 a few days ago it's my first DSLR. I managed to get BBF working thanks to You tube. I would like to have the beep for in focus feature. How?
Thanks Larry
I don't have the answer, just a suggestion. Every D7100--or other NiCan-- should come with a book like Darrell Youngs' Mastering the Nikon d7100, David Busch's Nikon D7100 Guide to Digital SLR Photography (Or whatever NiCan camera you have). Both of these authors present the camera capabilities and controls much better than the official manuals.) Don't leave home without it.
Congratulations on your purchase; the D7100 is a darned nice camera, (I've had mine since July 2014). Cant remember regarding the Beep when using BBF as I played around with it a while ago but decided to go back to focussing via the shutter release button. (I've turned the Beep off in my settings anyway as I often shoot in churches & alongside a videographer. What I have done - (and you may find useful) is to set it so your focus point/s illuminate red in the viewfinder when focus is achieved. (I shoot mostly in Aperture Priority mode and mostly use a single focus point. Do take time to go through the Users Manual - and enjoy your camera.
ALSO: Don't know if you get it where you are - but I found N PHOTO magazine over a year ago; (a UK publication), its dedicated to Nikon users and I have found a wealth of information in it.
If you have set camera to BBF and use continuous focus you won't be able to get the 'BEEP'.Only when using AF.A or AF.S you will get the Beep.. I had the same question when i switched to BBF..

Hummm, I called Nikon and told the lady I was using AFC and she said it would work I'll try AFA and see what happens. Thanks for the info.

It will beep when set to AF-S. but not on AF-C. I use both af-s and af-c with bbf depending on what I am shooting.

Thank you all, still can't get a beep. when beep is shown on the menu does it show -- after setting volume and tone?
If you are shooting in AF-C, it will not beep. make sure you are in AF-S

I guess I am not a real photographer....I like the beep! But, ask me if I care if someone thinks I am a real photographer!

I know a pro here in Aiken who shots all the horse events here that loves the beep. Opinions are like belly buttons everone has one.
