I haven't seen any references to whether or not the P900 can be manually focused. So, can it, anyone?

It appears Busch has left the building so I went out and did some searching and according to what I was able to find the answer to your inquiry is simply no. I thought as much since I couldn't find the option on mine but you never know maybe when Busch gets back he can clear up the issue for us.

Thanks. I was afraid of that. There's always a few things that prevent any camera from being the 'perfect' one for some and MF is something I think I need/want.

If they were to put it all in one camera it would either be priced beyond our reach or it eliminate the sales of all the other models which of course would be an economic disaster.

And, as I have already alluded, a cost of "super zoom" is always a small sensor. Sensor progress is happening, but small will always be behind bigger. I have a Pentax Q7, with a 1/1.7" sensor ( all "super zooms" I'm aware of are 1/2.3" ). My Q7 gives me good pictures under the circumstances; it gives me a lot of versatility in a small package; hang it on the end of a legacy telephoto lens, and I get "super zoom" power (but MF is the only option). However, when I have taken exactly the same scene with that camera and my elderly Canon Rebel XT, you can always see the limits in dynamic range and color depth that come with a smaller sensor.
Picked one up last week and took these pics, hand held, which were better than anything I could get on my 70D with the Tamron 150-600 zoom. Prior to last June (when I discovered a pair of nesting eagles nearby), I was using my camera strictly for business purposes (photos of silver jewelry), so I am a self taught novice.
Taken from approximately 75 yards away
from about 50 feet
about an estimated 2/5 of a mile
I tried the camera two weeks ago at B and H. It was extremely lens heavy.

Yeah, there's that, too. Alas...

It's on page 42 of the Manual. But it's not easy.
Sorry about the delay. I wasn't near a computer.

I have answered this in another post - the P900 can manually focus - not the most elegant procedure to use but described in the manual on Page 42-Using Manual Focus.

Go to the Nikon site and download thier manual. It should be on page 42.

It ain't for most of us if it cannot shoot RAW,
I was ready to order one until I saw that it didn't shoot raw. Instead I ordered a factory refurbished sx50 for $199.00. I should have it Tuesday. It won't be replacing my Nikon slr's, but it'll be great for outings to the zoo and that sort of thing.

Got it, thanks for spending the time to help me, much appreciated.
Just bought mine in Columbus Ohio last week. They still have one or 2, at least the did last Friday 4.3.15.
That zoom is incredible and the quality of the shot is really good...if you can hold it still enough.
