Stolen?
This doesn't necessarily need to be a stolen item. Original owner dies, and the next of kin sells without knowing the real value. Happens quite often actually. Especially true with lenses! To a non-photographer, a $100 lens looks just like a $1,000 lens.

Found on craigslist in Phoenix. I checked on the Nikon site and lens sells new for $2400.00
Take a a friend with you, maybe hot too.

It's probably one of those coffee cup lenses :)
Or an upset newly divorced spouse!
Coffee cup no, but the spouse, hummm, def poss. My friends aunt, VERY HOT woman, found out her dentist surgeon husband was playing the piano on a different instrument. Filed divorce. The EXTREAMLY expensive sailboat with the teak trim and ALL the extras was in her name. She sold it for $2,500. Yes, that was $2,500. It was his pride and joy. 'Was'.

Ridiculous. If it were a legitimate deal, it would be gone immediately.
Meet in police station parking lot!

Or it is stolen merchandise.

I saw the neighborhood too. It might be they left the 1 off. I did notice though that there is only an e mail address to contact them by; and it is a gmail address to boot.
Maybe that's how they made it to that neighborhood by selling hot stuff
Saw the same scam here with a Conon "L" series lens. Exact same wording in the response.
Craig's List is getting popular with scammers and criminals of all kinds. It's a gamble much of the time. eBay is better, but not without risks. Caveat emptor.

Craigslist is full of scams and frauds. If you decide to purchase it, remember:
Always meet in a public place, such as a coffee shop, to make your transaction. Never go to their home...
Someone suggested meeting at a police station. That sounds like the best to me.
The same thing from Craigslist in Illinois.
Thank you for your interest in my ad. However, I'm sorry to say I meet
somebody else and sold it already. If youre still trying to find a
good deal on it then i am suggesting you to visit this site-
http://bestbidsmarket.comIt's where i got mine from. Its an auction site. The bids are really
cheap. Just bid when theres under 5 seconds left and its easy to win.
All the best
