I got this printer sort of for free in a combo set from B&H. I had intended to sell it, but I actually like it. Downsides are that it takes up the entire top of my desk, so there went my workspace. And from the desk to the computer table is a ways, so the cords don't really reach very well. Sort of have to work around that. Printing small prints is difficult as the feeder doesn't handle smaller papers very well. Upsides: It's really quiet, relatively fast, gives good prints. I haven't had to replace ink yet, so I haven't felt that ouch.

Not sure which printer "this" refers to but I haven't had any problem with the Canon Pixma9000 Mk II feeding the 4 x 6 size feeding it short side first, but have not tried anything smaller.

A classic line. :D
He may be right. The 10 has two more cartridges and the Canon promotion suggests they are used for better B&W. If I was a B&W specialist, I would probably buy into to it.

How big, how often and how many prints will you be printing? Printers need to be used regularly otherwise the heads dry out and you can waste quite a bit of ink revitalizing them. ....

My personal experience with the Pro-100 suggests this may not be the case. First, it uses dye inks that theoretically don't clog. Second, Canon brags that their print heads have "short nozzles" that use little ink for cleaning. Third, do to RV travel, I left my printer off for long periods during the two years I've owned it.

I've had no issues. I print a few at a time when I want.

"Tigerpaws, my advice is keep life simple... and considering you live in California.... drink water before you see your world as a vast desert.... now you have to recycle water.... Vote republican and there is no climate change... that word and associated are censored in Florida by order of the Bug eyed Republican Governor (no offense meant to bugs) ... even PBS radio is buzzed out when wrong words are used... Sorry for your drought...."

The strange thing about the "climate change" spitting contest" is that there really isn't much debate about the "change". We all are experiencing the changes; the argument is, or should be, about what is causing it--industry or life on earth. Long before the industrial revolution there was "climate change", the ice age for one example, and what killed off the dinosaurs? Whether you accept the Ice age or the meteor impact (nature) as the cause, it wasn't man or industry.

Fyrlife, bet you can even buy SOH on Ebay.... Many of those photos are reminders of moments, many I like and that is what counts. Often what I say is well sprinkled and spiced with ironic humor. Not in this case tho one wall is 8x10s...

Congratulations on your award winning photos in your bedroom. Glancing at your posts... you are a wild life photographer... perhaps a pro.... Kudos.... some of us, me, do photography for fun and as I advised.. keep life simple... I use a 24/7 camera.. Sony HX50 small sensor, 30x Zeiss lens, often shoot from the hip.. my great DSLR and Lenses are packed away drawing dust...

I own and use a Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer, purchased when a large rebate was offered from Canon. I have print several 13x19-inch prints, and just ordered my first replacement set of eight (8) cartridges from Staples ($109). Based on average ink consumption, cost of a 13x19-inch print is approximately $1.00/sheet + $2.90/ink. The greys and black cartridges drain faster than the color cartridges. Based on list price of $17/Canon cartridge, the ink actually costs $5,000/gallon!

That's why the various printer makers sell the printers at cost. They make their money on the ink.

Hi John,

Nice talking with you today. While the 150.00 is an excellent price, I'm going to pass on it right now. I have Fed taxes to pay and I'm short on money.

I'm sure it will sell quickly.

Rudy

Okay. By "$90 each," I thought you meant per color. That's much more reasonable.

I have this printer and I am pleased with it. You may find one on Craigs List. I bought 2 more for about $130 with the 13x19" paper. They do take up a lot of desk space. Quality is grate.

Thanks for your link, I've been looking for that system for my Canon Pixma pro 100 printer.
Please let us know how that all works out for you!

I am thinking of getting this printer. Some of you must have it, and if so please let me know if it is worth getting it. Or should I get the Pro 10 instead. This will be my first printer. Or should I not bother at all and just send my photos to a lab?

I have and like the Pro 100. There is nothing as good as immediately seeing your print. That is worth something. I do know that monitors do not exactly show what the print looks like.

1st... Sorry Jerry... the way I wrote the $90 was better said $90/full kit of 8.

Kristoes, Since the Tampa Bay Camera Club has a new projector, 6 mo now, the print evaluation is much less popular. One print last month!! about 35 projected. My probability of printing large prints may flare up again.. but now I do a low cost 8x10" put before me on cabinet... then circle errors... correct and finally put on my 32" HDTV and sip my coffee and see additional errors as the image gets older it becomes less mine and becomes something to critique.

Also I take my best and mount on 8x10 per-stretched canvas looks better than using frames... much lower cost than matt and also much less space on that wall.

Printer nozzle clogging is an Epson problem, NOT a Canon problem, because the Canon Pro-100 nozzles have heaters that re-liquify ink on start-up.
