Wildflowers are in full bloom in the SATX area. It is going to be wildflower Sunday this week. Going to the Shooting Star Museum, a ranch in Devine they takes you for a ride in the bluebonnet fields.
Knock it off-you guys are making me homesick!
I saw a lot in Poteet a few days ago.
These are from today in my yard near HW 281 just south of Marble Falls in Llano County. I'd say that these are in the beginning of peak bloom period. I haven't traveled anywhere but I am very close to perhaps the premiere stretch of Bluebonnet country - HW 16 from Llano to Fredericksburg. Since these volunteers in my yard are in peak season I imagine that the premiere stretch is also in peak season.

Looks good. HWY 1604 around SATX is looking good.
Thanks so much, Hogs!
New problem: which ones to choose? Making the choices will be fun, though! Thank you again.

This is the problem with shooting wildflowers just like Starbucks too many choices.
I have lived here 35 years. The Variety of colors starts south and moves north....always. So right now the most color is south of San Antonio. Bluebonnets are pretty much all over in patches. By next week more color will be up north of S.A. and east of S.A. toward Houston.... Luling is a good place to start. Fredericksburg area should be good maybe by the end of this next week and the following week. That is what I'm hoping for. check the bluebonnet watch sites mentioned above to get good ideas.
Laura is dead on about the Brazos Valley area being one of the best places for bluebonnets in Texas. Go west on Texas 21 from College Station to Caldwell and then turn south on Texas 36 to Brenham. This was very often some of the best Texas has to offer. Be aware, that bluebonnets can be quite unpredictable depending on winter rain and spring temperatures. The Texas Hill Country along US 290, from Austin west to Fredericksburg is also well worth a look. Enjoy!!
