My wife has a 150-500 sigma on a d5200 body and I shoot a d7100 with the Tamron 150-600...they are both good lenses for the money....having shot both...the sigma will focus faster...But like everything in photography...you need to practice. its a lot of weight to shoot hand held....but you will like it!
But is not a low light lens....but it can surprise you in low light conditions.
I have the Sigma 50-500mm and I had the Sigma 150-500mm plus I have the Tamron 150-600mm and the Tamron focuses faster than the other Sigma's.
B&H has them, mine should arrive Tue-Wed.
Go for it.....
Lens case for tam 150-600mm Lowerpro 13 x32 cm will fit lens 5.1 inch dia x12.5 inch length 42.99

The Sigma also comes with 2 lbs. of extra weight over the Tamron plus an extra $1000. You will get the case, but you will pay extra for it.
You are the go to guy for the tamron...your exceptional images and sincere advice made up my mind...great lens at a good cost...now the problem I have is getting out of the wife's hands.

I own and use the Sigma Macro 150. The only handicap is the narrow DOF, but the extra distance between lens and insect subjects seems to be a help in avoiding disturbing the insects by getting too close. The 100 mm +/- macros often recommended need to be a bit closer for same field size with the 150 or 180.
Besides the "standoff" distance factor I read an article on the resolution of the Sigma 180 that put it ahead of the 105 and 150.

Buy the sigma...It comes with it's own nice padded carrying case.
The Tammy doesnt come with a case.
My solution:
Tamron 150-600 $1069 + Nest 530 gimbal head w/case $298
Head stays on tripod, won't fit in case like that no matter how much I push and shove, so I use the case for the lens. Won't fit in the tripod case either.
Your solution:
Sigma Sport $1999.99 w/case, but, no gimbal head.
My debit card votes for my solution.

I need help....getting a GAS attack.....
Tell my why I don't want the Tamron 150-600?
Tell me it's horribly bad....it doesn't work well on Nikons....anything.....
I probably won't be able to hold out much longer.....
Really want one.....badly.....lol
1 You do not want it because I do not want anymore competition on this site with that Lens.
2 It will be to fast and quiet to focus for you.
3 It's to affordable for your major GAS attack.
4 It's to ergonomic, you need something really huge.
5 Image quality is to sharp, I wish I had my soft Nikon 28-300mm lens back.
:P :P :P

I have a sigma 50-500 and seriously considered getting the Tamron 150-600 but decided I really like the range of the sigma. Only going to 150 precludes you from a multitude of shots with out changing lens. I recently spent 3 days roaming a ranch in Amarillo with my sigma and decided the additional reach did not offset the benefit of the range.

I can see your point when you already have a Lens with that range it's hard to justify the extra 100mm. Although I believe Tammy does rate better than the Sigma in the longer 150-500mm reaches.

Because I can't afford one and if I can't have one then no one should be allowed to have one!

There are two new Sigma 150-600s. I believe the hobbiest one is about $1,000. It might also weigh less.
Looks like they might confuse the market with this dual offering.
http://www.sigmaphoto.com/product/150-600mm-f5-63-dg-os-hsm-cI see it weighs about two pounds less than the Sport model as well. I don't know if the optics are the same but they claim improved OS. The one on the 150-500 is awesome so this one must be supercalafadulisticexpeialidotious.
if you are like me and already have a lot of lenses, you may already have what you need to cover that range.here's one put together that worked for me. my kit includes .
a a sony a-850 that shoots in full frame or aps-c.
b a Minolta maxxum 100-300mm apo-d.
c a vivitar 1.4 teleconverter.
with this combo i'm covered from 100-630mm and have auto focus. this combo gives me good results and i'm ok with the time lost in changing things around. I also have two combos using G lenses and tc's.
I've had the Tamrom for my Nikon since May 2014 first release. Love it. Plan on getting the Sigma contempory for my Canon real soon.
Really like the last picture with caption.

Hi Brapoza, hope to see some good comparison shots when you get a chance.
