Ah yes! Once you get the camera bug, you always get GAS. Sort of like the flu and a cough. Just do it! You are helpless.
I feel the same way about my Tamron 150-600. By the way I went to your website, WOW JUST FANTASTIC!!!

Most of this is "Duh" stuff but.....
-you will find yourself almost always cranked out to 600 so why bother with a zoom (except that long primes cost even more as a general rule)
-the lens is hand holdable but you need a lot of light and a high shutter speed
-like most lenses it isn't at its sharpest wide open so....you need a really high shutter speed
-the Vibration Control works but don't think that your odds of getting good shots at 1/250 hand held are going to be very good.
-I find that I need to use a monopod just to take the weight while I consentrate on stability
-I have yet to get a single BIF shot worth keeping with this lens. Even mounted on a super heavy duty tripod with gimbal head. This could be more operator error than anything else but.....its frustrating.
-When all of the stars line up....you CAN get very sharp images at 600mm.
Am I going to keep the lens? Probably.....at least until I'm satisfied that additional practice doesn't make me better with it. Would I buy it again? No.

Huh? You've got to be kidding. Don't worry about picture quality or cost, buy the Sigma because it comes with a case. I've heard some dumb advice, but I believe you get the gold star. Thanks.
He might have been kidding. But I do have to confirm that the case on the Sigma is very good. Mine rolled off the cab-over bed in my camper while in the case: about a four foot drop onto a hard floor. Didn't bother the lens at all. (Well, it didn't exactly roll because the case cross section is square
but it made the trip while going down the road.)
The Sigma is now shipping. I have the Sigma 150-500 and if the new 150-600 is as good it might be the right choice. I understand the less expensive one is now shipping.
I haven't seen any comparisons on image quality yet. Perhaps the more important issue will be on the VR/OS. The one on my Sigma 150-500 is very good. I'd like to see a comparison between the one on the new 150-600 to the Tamron.

Exactly! Why do so many act as if GAS is a bad thing? Even the angels like GAS!
Does anybody know where you can get a carrying case for the Tamron 150-600? Tamron should have charged $50 more and provided a carrying case/cover for the Tamron 150-600.
Lowerpo has one to fit for 32.00
Thanks, I will check them out.
I would not buy the Tamron!

Look at the large "ape case". It works.

Thank you for the compliment.
I wish I'd put the $$ I spent on the Tamron and case toward the new EF 16-35 or perhaps the, yet to arrive, 5D IV.

NO NO NO !!!! rehab is for quitter's :-D :-D
I have a Nikon D7100 camera and use a Tamron 150-600 for shooting birds, sport events, landscape etc. and I think it is a very good lens for the money. I have not tried it indoors for any sporting event at this time. As the reviews say, it is not a great lens for low light.
