I envy you. Feed your models better grade fruit. Don't try to PP true life. Enjoy.

lol...davidrb, you are right. If I feed him better, then maybe the antlers will grow a little bigger. Thanks, I will remember to try and keep the shots real.

I liked your shots! Everyone's monitor is different but #2 looked like the colors were over saturated a bit so I reduced the overall color a little. Here's the result.

Thanks SonyA580 for the nice comment. I like the work you did on the photo...it does look better now. Thanks.

Nothing to be ashamed of there, Stoney.
What lens are you shooting with? (mm)

One pointer I've picked up thanks to the experienced here, aim for the eyes on Wildlife.
I think Nikonian72 gave me that tip in the Macro forum.
If the eyes are bright and in focus, it makes the shot in many cases.
Definitely keep shooting. And I totally agree with DavidRB, avoid Post Processing with Wildlife.
About all that looks good is some minor brightness/contrast adjustments if any. Too many good Photographs become PP'd goop where the user tries to be an Artiste. It stinks.
So shoot and offer up. The wrinkles will iron out along the way.

Some pointers from the rank amateur down here on the bottom. ;)
Nothing to be ashamed of there, Stoney. br What le... (show quote)

Thank you SonnyE for the nice comment, and the earlier encouragement. You are one of the people that pushed me to post some of my photos... Glad I did now! I am learning so much from everyone. Everyone has been so nice and encouraging.

I think it was the sigma 400mm that my wife and I own. It could have been her "big Tammy" as you call it...600mm. I have just learned since posting these shots, how to find my camera info of photos.

Thanks for the advice, I will remember about focusing on the eyes and not to get carried away with the PP thing.

For nine months experience, you have done very well. Check out an E-book "Secrets to stunning wildlife photography" by Steve Perry. I found it very helpful.

You are off to a good beginning, keep posting.

Thank you Odie-Jay for the nice compliment, I really appreciate the encouragement. I will look for that book, as I want to get good at this photography thing. I also look forward to learning from all of you who are the experts, and produce such awesome shots.

Very nice first set!!! It will get better the more you play.:) Can I come sit by you?:):)

Thank you Erv for the nice words. I hope I can get better, cause I do love playing this photography hobby. Come on down and have a seat. You will enjoy the scenery. I was blessed that my hometown is only about an hour from the elk in the Great Smoky Mountains (Cataloochee Valley), and not that far from where I live now.

Very nice shots. I would like a little more colour saturation. And I might flop number two horizontally so that the deer is entering the frame from the left side. Keep up the good work

Thank you rps for the nice comments. Show me what you would do, if you don't mind?

I made the changes I had suggested earlier. However, rather than more saturation, I gave less but also played with contrast and brightness. To my eye, the switch in the direction of the deer is dramatic.

Wow, that does look more dramatic. I would never have thought of, or even known how to do that. I also like how the difference in contrast and brightness changed the look of the shot. Thanks you rps.

Congratulations on choosing a very fun & sometimes expensive hobby/ recreation. It beats drugs, etc. & is better for your health. You have some interesting subjects to shoot. No elks in my neck of the woods. I think the #3 photo has potential. I tweaked it a little to take out some of the purple cast in Photo Gallery, then did some noise removal in Topaz Denoise. You are well on your way to some fantastic photos. I have faith in ya.

Thank you cameranut for the encouragement. Yes, this is an awesome and can be expensive hobby, but I absolutely love it. Wish I had started this years ago. I am fortunate not to live to far from some great wildlife. Thanks for the work you did on the photo...it looks much better now. I had not really seen the purple look until you mentioned it. Again, thanks for the improvement on my shot....don't be surprised if you get more to work on..lol.

Thanks to some of the Hog regulars, I am finally going to post some of my wildlife shots. I have been doing photography for about nine months, and it has become a passion...it's very addictive!! Anyway, please feel free to give me advice on my shots, how to become a better photographer, and post process any you can make look better(which will be all). I really suck at the PP thing.

Stoney

These are really good. I just started getting into photography a couple of years ago and you are right it is very addictive.
There are a few really good photo editing programs out there that are free which I really like.
Picasa.com
Befunky.com this has a lot of great different effects. There is also GIMP which is a free version of Photoshop which has much of the same tools.

Hope you post some more photo as they are really good.

Great pics! #3 eating the apple is a real nice capture. The others are too, but # 3 is striking.
