Yeah, a lot of people do. Here at Woodlawn Cemetary I believe there are about 12 Stars of music. Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Little Jimmy Dickens, Eddy Arnold, Jerry Reed, Porter Wagner, and Marty Robins to name a few.
Looking at these pictures reminds me of his recording of "The Old Violin"--if you can, listen to it.
There is a violin on his grave marker... That song touched a lot of people. How ironic the words. "Tonight I feel like an old violin, soon to be put away and never played again"
Thanks for stopping by to see Old Johnny once more.
Guess he shouldn't have shoved that job after all! Ah well, live and learn.
Nice of George Jones to help a friend on his way. Thanks for sharing these, James.
Pretty ironic isn't it...Johnny lived as an Outlaw in many ways. Had a hard time keeping a job. He kind of helped ole George out a time or two while on tour. When George was just a little to tipsy to finish the show, Johnny was there to help him out. Now they're both playing together again for the biggest show of all.
I think this cemetery (Woodlawn) contains the most celebrities of days past. Other well know artist are scattered around in other cemeteries around Nashville. At one time, I thought about putting together a thread of images showing the famous grave markers. But wasn't sure how it would be accepted, so put that idea on the back burner. Thanks for stopping by John.
Your treatment of the memorial is very tastefully done!
Bob
Thank you Kindly Bob. Although Johnny was a little rough around the edges, he still deserves the highest respect we can give him. He was loved and cherished by many of his fans.
