I like the B&W photo the best because it lets my eyes through the photo slowly. The blue area in the background move my eyes directly to that area first. Again what do you want your audience to experience when they look at this photo? Arnold

That is close to the look I want to get with the B&W. Thanks.

Mortonfarm,
The capital is one of my favorite subjects. I have lived around Austin since 1976 and I keep going back to the Capital grounds several times a year. When I saw your photo of the rotunda I thought it was one of mine! lol
GREAT picture. Would love to see more of your work of the Capital.
I would love to see some of the hilly neighborhoods at night or dusk photography. From what I remember the architecture with the unique terrain would make for some excellent stock
Last time I was there was in 1984 hung out at the black cat and I think it was maggies or Magie mays." on 6th street. It was a great time!
There's gold in them there hills!!!!
Hook um horns!
Color...the blue does it.

I always shoot in color. Canon 5d mark II or Canon 40D. I have found however that sometimes if I have a color photograph that just doesn't seem to grab my feelings I will convert the raw photograph into black and white. Sometimes that is what the picture needs.
Try something new, B/W image with the blue light area in color - selective coloring.

I like the way the blue lends feel to the shot. A very interesting shot, could proably end up on some one's wall.
I think a selective color on the blue in the first one might look pretty cool

You might want to try color popping your photos. I love B/W, but I also like to "pop" the colors sometimes to really bring out nice effects

Is there a difference in a photograph taken in color and converted to a B&W as opposed to originally taking it in B&W. In addition, does it make a difference if shot as JPEG or RAW as far as manipulating the photograph later.
