I always shoot in color. Canon 5d mark II or Canon 40D. I have found however that sometimes if I have a color photograph that just doesn't seem to grab my feelings I will convert the raw photograph into black and white. Sometimes that is what the picture needs.

In this instance, I prefer the color image, the blue reflection in the floor is more dramatic against the mostly pale surroundings.
Is it me or is the image tilted slightly to the left?
I'm all for color but I rarely change any of my photos to b&w. Nice shot by the way.
I like the color...the blue adds some interest I think. Draws the eye more.
I like the color shot...the blue draws your eye right into the photo

Thanks for all the replys. I do have to say I do like the color one here but the black and white does remind me of something Ansul Adams would have done.
By the way fawlty128...good eye. It is tilted slighty. I took this picture in the Texas Capital annex. At this time there were people everywhere and I had to quickly compose and hold the camera to my eye till everyone was out od the frame. My arm got tired. lol I do have an edited picture that is straight.
The Gemini in me wonders why I can't have both LOL... but honestly, I like the B&W better and for precisely the reason you gave.

Thanks tilde531. Ansul Adams is my favorite Old pro. The things he use to do with black and white inspired me with photography. I have another example of an HDR photo I took in color that wasn't too pleasing and converted it to black and white and that made all the diffrence. I'll look for it and post them here.

I prefer the color also, this shot does not have the right character for a B&W image.

Here is a better example. The color is only one frame of the color HDR but hopefully you see what I mean. The black and white is the finished product. To me the color just did not have any emotion for lack of a better term. I then converted it to black and white and was pleased with what I came up with.

Thanks Steve40. I think I understand what you are saying about the B&W. I usually go back and rework some of my photos. I was going to do that with the B&W of the annex.
Keep the black and white and add the one color blue?
I like the color one too. The blue on the floor makes it color all the way for me.
