I am torn about a D7100 upgrade.
Best of both worlds. Screw drive, or works with my other (DX) lenses.
Probably my target. ;)
But a thousand yards way...
I have a Nikon D300 with about 34000 accusations, in very good condition I'll sell for $400 and I'll split the shipping charges. If interested, contact me privately.

If you don't need the latest and greatest you can get good deals. Some waiting and the yards turn to feet.
I shoot with a D300s and a D300. They will do what you want to do. They are solid workhorse cameras that are durable and dependable.
They are however dated and are not particularly good in low light.
If that's what you can afford go with it. I could update, but would rather use these than settle for anything less than a D4s which I still haven't saved enough money for. They are good solid cameras. You won't be disappointed.

What is the question?
What is stopping you from searching for the camera you know you want, in the price range that you want?
Programs/websites don't come much more user friendly than Google.
If you do have a question why couldn't you have actually asked it and provided any relevant information.
What is so hard about typing .....

Just because there is no ? at the end of a sentence does not mean it is not a ?. The statement had the intent of a ?.
If you can not see that then do no answer.

Why are you having a go at me?
It was that dope lighthouse who "critiqued" your post.
I am sorry. I thought it was from you. I was looking at the left of the blog, not the name on the blog.

That's OK, also, when making a response, hit the "quote reply" button so that everyone knows to which post you are referring.

Writing is difficult for some...while others seem proficient
at it. Writing takes practice just like other acquired skills. Some of us are good at writing...while others struggle with it. Too many writers have the "you known what I'm saying" attitude, rather than expressing themselves in language that others can comprehend.

Yes, and all I had to do to work out what the question actually was, was to :
revisit the post to see the question, after it had been edited after my initial answer,
then go into his profile,
open all his other posts,
and read them to decipher exactly where he was at with lenses (to see if he already had a long lens, or wanted to buy one of them within the $500 as well).
Like I said - pulling teeth.
It is easy fixed though - in future cases like this, I just won't worry about trying to help.
