So you walk from A to B. In A your photos are fine and in B you get TWO different messages as to why you cant view them? Go back to A shoot some more and the photos are fine?

Pilot error my man. Ice on the wings. In B you changed settings on the camera.
Those Frenchies are pretty clever but do not think they have jamming devices etc.

Photos from A-B OK. Photos from B-C no good ( corrupted?)
Photos C-D OK. No settings were changed.
Thanks

Download the card and back it up. Then try a recovery program. There was probably one bundled with your SD card. If not there are lots of free ones floating around.

Have tried this but not successful yet.
Thanks

What are the file extensions (jpg or CR2)?
Are they the same type for all the files?
What are you trying to open the files with?

Thanks for your thoughts. All the file extensions are .jpgs and all opened with Photo Gallery.
Cheers

I still have the card un-formatted, The Card was supplied by Kogan. The SD card was plugged in to my Laptop via a Card Reader and opened by Photo Gallery.
Thanks for your help

Ok, again, please do not format it before this gets figured out. Did you ever format the card before using it? Was that format done in-camera? What camera & Model. What card and model? What card reader & model? What computer and model? What Operating system? I have not heard of photo gallery, so I can't say anything about it.

This is the direction I would take. When you said you "plugged them into the computer" what did you mean? What program were you using? Have you tried different viewing and post processing programs? Do you get the same answer from all of them? Certain programs do not recognize certain file types. Sometimes you have to download and install extensions to those programs to deal with certain arcane file types.

Hi, when I said plugged in, I mean inserted the SD card into a Card reader and then inserted into the Card reader into the USB on my Laptop, then opened the Removable Drive which held my SD Card and the programed default was Photo Gallery.
All the photos came up as a thumbnail but the photos in question came up with an "image" but can't be viewed.
Thanks

Free program called recuva, you can probably get them recovered from the card. Try deep scan. Good luck.

Try getting the images in Bridge. When I was using Lightroom 3, I changed cameras, to one that LR 3 could not read. Desparate I went to Bridge and opened them from the camera, no problem. I was then able to import them from that folder into LR.
I hope this helps.

Thanks

Those are my thoughts also. If you try to open CR2 (canon raw) files with windows photo viewer you'll get an error unless the "camera codec" package is installed.
If you try nothing else.....install the software that came with the camera (Digital Photo Proffesional) and try opening the files with it.

Thanks

You said you have a Canon 70D and you use some 3rd party software to view your images..... WHY?

When you purchased your Canon 70D, you also received (if a new purchase) a CD with Digital Photo Professional. Install that and see if you can view the images in question. IF you don't have the CD with software, go to the Canon website, find the Canon 70D and download the latest version of DPP. All you need is to provide the s/n of your camera.

Also, not sure if you are using Windows but if you are, open Explorer and look at your SD card.... can you see/identify the extension of the files you cannot view? Provide that information for further assistance.

I've never had to use the CD that came with the camera but now I will try that. I am using windows and after many thousands of photos taken this the first this has happened. I have used Explorer.
Thanks

There are some devices that don't work well with 64g sd cards. In my experience, they either work completely, or not at all.

Are you reading directly from the camera, or with a usb card reader, or with a card reader built into your computer? Whatever..., I suggest that you try a different reading device.

The images in question can't be read by the camera, or with a Card Reader. I don't have a built in Card Reader on the laptop.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Do you mean that there are NO images on the LCD, or that only the "missing" images do not display on the LCD?

If the latter, it suggests to me that the problem is corrupted files rather than a RAW file that the computer can't read. Most cameras will display their own RAW files on the LCD.

Did you have to put the camera through a scanner on entry to the museum? Possibly the card got jarred loose in the process, and maybe got bumped again on leaving setting it straight.

I would look for a file recovery program. I have had variable luck with these, sometimes with a full recovery, sometimes a partial, and sometimes no luck at all.

good luck.

Hi, it has been suggested by a photo processing shop that he files has been corrupted but I had hopes that UHH followers could help.

A lot of replies were beyond what we call on topic
your subject heading invited that.
Try this for a title "Some images will not display."
Then inside your description say.
Took photos in two different locations, one inside one out on a 64 mg card.
Then say only the ones taken outside display, the other give the message " . . . . . . . . ."
More quality replies would be received I do believe.

Thanks

I take the dog out to pee in the back yard.
And he waits for me to finish so we can both go back inside.

When potty training a Grandson, I taught him to go pee in the yard to prevent accidents.
One day he was playing in the front yard while his mom was talking to a neighbor.
You guessed it, he pulled his pants down and pee'd across the yard. and he was only seventeen when that happened.

She was mortified.
I was proud of him when I heard of it. ;)

The card was formatted in camera. Camera is Canon 70D. Card was Kogan 64gb class 10. generic card reader. Laptop is Lenvova. Windows 8. Photo Gallery is the resident bundled program. As I have said I have taken thousands of photos and this the first time this has happened.
Thanks
