Yep, that is the kind of peanuts I've been throwing to them. We live upstairs so I throw them from the porch. They don't run away as much if I can get the peanuts to fall close to the base of a tree. I can hear and sometimes see them chasing and running in the woods. I can hear them in the leaves on the ground more than see them. I don't think any of ours hibernate since we are in the south. In fact I had the air conditioner on in the middle of the day and will have to go to heat over night.
