The only thing is that sometimes UPS will just leave the package at my door, it depends on the cost of what's being delivered.

I have dealt with B&H for years and have had only one occasion where I returned an item and that was just recently. I had the item for about a week before I got around to taking it out of the box and examining it. I had an issue with the item and conveyed my concerns. They immediately emailed me a return label and asked if I wanted a refund or replacement. I took the replacement and as soon as they received my return the other one was on it's way to me. Absolutely great people to do business with. I wouldn't buy anywhere else. It would be much easier for you to take the delivery refusal option since you would not have to deal with returning the item yourself.

I would use the label provided and take it to a UPS Store. The tracking number and receipt from the store is your proof of return should something go wrong with it... ;)

I did something similar. B&H is really very good to work with. I've never been disappointed.

I discovered that I had ordered a lens in the wrong mount. It should have been Nikon instead of Canon. It has yet to be delivered. The B&H rep told me I could return it two ways: Refuse acceptance of the UPS package or return the package with a return form he sent me. Either way I would be receiving a credit on my credit card.

Does anyone have any experience with these options and which is the preferred option?

I will be reordering the correct mount lens this week. I have been VERY happy with B&H with previous orders. I just have little experience in returning things.

Thanks,
Terry Sandlin

I would just accept delivery and use their return shipping label.
That way you get a tracking #. I never had any problems with returns.

I just returned a B&H item 2 weeks ago. I had called them while the shipment was en route. I also emailed UPS that my signature was required on delivery. When I returned home after outside errands there was the box on my doorstep. I took it unopened to the closest UPS office, explained the situation, and they put the return address on it and returned it free of charge. I also notified B&H customer service by phone and email. I tracked the shipment. It was delivered to Brooklyn, NY and 3 days later my credit card was credited.

Thanks to all of you for you responses. I believe I will return the item with a tracking number. In the 60's while I was in college I had a summer job working in the Chicago Post Office. After that summer I was paranoid about sending something important by mail. (I was sorting mail and the guy next to me couldn't read. Someone took the test for him.)

B&H is very good about returns. I just returned a tripod that wasn't exactly what I was looking for and ordered another from them. If you do not refuse the shipment and have to return it you will need to call them and they will e-mail you a return authorization with a # that you will affix to the box going back. Also if you can send it from your business it will cost you less. Business to Business rates are less than if you send it back from a UPS drop off center.

Refuse Delivery and order the one you want. I made a similar mistake with B&H and they are fantastic about it.

You can cancel delivery while package is enroute, and UPS will reroute it back to sender, I have done this a couple times and the original tracking number remains active for the return. I have only returned one item to B&H once and due to personal issues they shipped out the replacement before I even shipped out the defective product, they also had UPS schedule a pickup for my item since the nearest UPS store is over an hour away. They are truly in the top of their class. I will gladly pay up to 10% more for this type of care and assurance, but in all reality B&H are fairly competitive with their competitors.

Thanks,
Matthew

I strongly second this. I have been dealing with B+H for some years and across the board they have delivered and if they could not they made it right.

Thank you. I wish I had known this or they would have told me. I discovered this on Fri. night so I couldn't call them until Sunday. I returned the package with a tracking number. I have found B & H even better than Amazon. I believe that Consumer's Reports rated B & H as the best online retailer, even ahead of Amazon.

Thanks to all the fine folks here for the kind compliments you have paid us. Hearing it from you makes the tremendous resources we allocate to customer care all worth it. On behalf of all of us at B&H Photo, I thank you for your patronage.
