Boy do I resent that remark. No one on this board has EVER said they don't love this country. Finding fault with something doesn't mean you hate it. We are always striving to be the best people we can be, always looking at ourselves critically. The same is true of our country. There are always things that can be changed for the better. Just because your vision may differ from mine doesn't diminish your or my love of country. I disagree with most of the people on this board, but I will NEVER question their patriotism. I thought we had left the "love it or leave it" mentality back in the 60's, but I guess not. I can't tell you what to believe, but I sure resent being accused of something that has no basis in fact.

Native Americans have always hsd the right to use and posese eagle feathers for their ceremonies, whereas, I could not. Native Americans also have a very high ethic when it comes to conservation (meaning wise use of resources) and they will use the whole animal and manage the populations so as to always have them around. They have been doing on their lands because they are a soverign nation. Yes, when you are on reservation property, you are in another country. I do not see any reason to be angered or resentful toward Native Americans. Let us remember they used the eagle as a symbol in their culture long before we did. None of this prohibits photographing eagles.

Let's not forget the primary cause for the near extinction of the Bald Eagle in the lower 48 - primarily pesticides and not Native American religious ceremonies. Do not get me wrong, I would not personally kill one myself. I hate the thought of it but they are not a threat to the Bald Eagle population. Loss of habitat is a much bigger threat.

And I have to say, I don't really see anyone attacking anyone else on here. This seems like a good adult conversation. I know, I don't shove my views or opinions down other people's throats, and I don't like other people to shove theirs down my throat either. But I love a good debate.
Like was also stated above, if you take away religious rights from one, you have to take away from all.

Down through history, lambs, children, virgins and all other living things were sacrificed in the name of some religion. I think we judge civilizations by the way they treat their children, animals, elderly and the unborn. We are progressing but still have a long way to go. Should you sacrifice an animal for food or clothing, that is one thing, but to sacrifice for feathers, ivory, skin, fur and any other trophy item, in my opinion, falls short in the stewardship and love of the gifts given by God. Don't jump down my throat, this is my humble opinion. I love collecting feathers. They are down right beautiful and mysterious. But I wouldn't kill one sparrow for one feather let alone a bald eagle.

Sorry you missunderstood what I was refering to. I was not questioning anyone's patriotism. But one should NEVER evoque Love of country while being being demeaning to a minority. Those who served under this country's Flag did so to protect the rights of not just the majority but also the LEAST OF US.. who stand under it's majestic umbrella.
I usually don't comment on boards but suggesting Native Americans use pigeons instead was just to much for me. Would you suggest that an observing Jew to use KFC biscuit instead of Matzo during Passover, or the same to a Catholic for Holy Communion? NO!
