Why would they offer an FX Body bundled with a consumer grade lens? The "Bundle" offers include choice of DX lens.
I do not quite understand why anyone would expend the price of an FX body with a DX lens attached?
I can see some long term benefit of a DX Body and an FX lens, but why would a FX body come bundled with a DX Lens?

You're missing nothing except the pain of not having carefully read the fine print. I would delay my purchase as new deals are announced regularly.

Others gave you the reason. This is all marketing with decisions by non photographers in order to maximize the stores profit margin.

You have done your homework and saved yourself grief.

Years ago I bought a package deal that included two lenses, one was VR and the other was not. As I gained knowledge and experience I realized that I had been screwed and the company I bought from refused to do anything about it. Caveat Emptor! (Buyer Beware!)

WHAT? You are kidding, right? Those two stores are most assuredly "run" by people who are quite well versed in all aspects of photography. They did not become 2 of the largest and most highly respected photography retailers on the planet because of their staff's marketing skills.

Willing to bet that the "marketing guys" in those stores have forgotten more about photography than you (or I for that matter) ever knew.

Don't buy the bundle unless that is the lens you want. Get what you exactly want a-la-carte and go have fun with a new excellent camera and lens that you want.

To clarify; bundles are NOT put together by the marketing team, but by the purchasing department. Each senior purchasing manager is highly experienced and knowledgable about the product lines for which he is responsible, but many are also skilled photographer as well - as are many members of our sales and marketing teams.

Me? Not so much!

TheD810, D750 and the D610 I have picked as a possible up grade to M my body collection because you can use DX and FX lens on those cameras. That way I don't have to spend a lot of money up frount, being able to use the bag of DX lens that I have, till I cane save up for FX lens.

(Edited base on below).

They usually do pretty good on their bundles. Please first check, and then let them know if they actually did that and I'm sure they'll fix it.

I consider these two and Cameta equivalent.

I did a similar thing although bought an FX 28-300 while I still had a D7000 planning ahead.

Note that the D8xx has five different picture areas you can choose from. All your DX lenses will work in DX mode. Some will work OK in full FX mode for a range of zoom. Others will work fine or over an expanded zoom range in the two intermediate picture area modes. You need to test each lens on each picture area when you get the camera.

(PS: The menu and manual only show four picture area formats. The fifth, 9x16, shows up when you take still shots in Live View.)

These are body only links.

The only lens shown, not bundled, is FX.

BTW, one of the things I like about shopping on Amazon for lenses is that it automatically comes up with a box "Will this work with my camera?" It remembers my camera and so far has been 100% correct on this. That is, even though DX lenses will "work" on my D800 it tells me not.

Sometimes the best priced supplier is Adorama.

You may not be looking close enough at the lenses offered. I thought this one had that problem:

http://www.adorama.com/INKD810K.html

When I looked closer at each lens, which I thought was DX, turned out to be FX. The Nikon lens designations do not make it clear and sometimes you have to dig in the technical data to find out.

Can you please post one of the links that bothered you?

Otherwise you might consider apologizing to Adorama.

I have purchased from both & in each case, have been very satisfied. If you are puzzled by something on either site, I recommend questioning them directly. It could save time and provide clarity.
