During pre-purchase due diligence I have priced Nikon 810 and Nikon 750 Bodies, as well as custom bundle with a particular lens.
I am finding B&H to garner my confidence: Adorama has me puzzled?
Why would they offer an FX Body bundled with a consumer grade lens? The "Bundle" offers include choice of DX lens.
I do not quite understand why anyone would expend the price of an FX body with a DX lens attached?
I can see some long term benefit of a DX Body and an FX lens, but why would a FX body come bundled with a DX Lens?
What am I missing?

I buy from B&H. It's the same at B&H right now.
The bundle packages with the pro grade FX lenses ended on 1/3/15.

The marketing departments of both these companies are run by, well, marketers, NOT by photographers. They do not understand the difference in formats and do not care, they only want to put together a package at an attractive price.
Always be aware of exactly what you are ordering and its compatibility.

which lens bundle would you pick for the 810 or 750?
One lens in the bundle would be the 24-70 f2.8 The others would depend on what your photography interests are. ;)

Oldtigger:
A particular need/use demands the FX 28-300 lens, I
could work with either body but personally prefer the layout of the 800 series bodies. Also, the higher pixel count provides for better enlargement which is major influence on choice.
A separate purchase will be the 16-35 f/4 (that may come at same time as above)
750 will be a future purchase for my wife and her (now primary body) 7100 will become her second body. Buttons on 7100 & 750 reasonably similar. I would like to bundle the 750 with a 24-70 f/2.8 but it more likely will be a 24-120 f/4
70-200 would be the alternate bundle/choice with the 750 and the f2.8 or f/4 decision will be made at time of purchase.
If we have good fortune I will seek a second body and that will bundle with whichever (above referenced) lens is still missing from our shared inventory.

Jim,
The post that I made earlier was referring to the lens rebates only with a body purchase. The only time I've seen the D8xx bodies bundled, is when there is also a savings on the lenses. Hopefully Nikon will have a 'lens only" rebate in Feb. or March like last year.

I just surfed both sites and it appears that their bundles are offering the same lenses.
Unless you have interviewed the staff in the marketing dept., it's PURE speculation that they are NOT photographers. They may be better photographers than anybody responding here. But it's fun to fuel the sensationalism and appear authoritative.
Maybe customers buy that combo a lot, so they have bundled it to save those that DO buy it, money.
As per who to buy from, I prefer Adorama because I want the Adorama learning center to thrive and expand. It's much better than the B&H programming. That adds value for all that use it.
I usually buy refurb, but that's just me.
My last camera came from Cameta. I traded the included free bundle for useful spare camera batteries and memory cards. That was free money. Good luck with your choice. ;-)

I'm not seeing either camera bundled with DX lenses.
Can you add a link?
Thanks.
Sorry, unless I'm missing something, I don't see any bundled with DX lenses, just an option to buy the 85mm DX macro. Minor mistake in putting the pages together but a neophyte (read: more money than... um...experience) might unknowingly purchase that combo.
Those aren't bundles; just ads that are automatically generated on each page.
Looks like this thread is pointless.

You won't see them on the companies websites often at all. But they do regularly post FX camera and DX lens packages on Ebay, I have seen several listed there and always have to wonder what the heck they are thinking.
The D610 with a 18-55mm DX lens and 75-300mm FX lens bundle comes up often. As does the D610 bundled with the 18-200mm DX lens.
