Worked with a guy from the UK. His dad used to do a lot of model building for the filming industry in the UK. I had seen quite a few pics and they sure were something else. Also a lot of work and patience . . . . . except he got paid well for his efforts. I worked in engineerining and we we built a lot of models to help the client envision what they were getting built. These were made from purchased plastic pipe and fittings. Most of the equipment was modelled in house. Most of these models cost over a million dollars to build. Obviously the computer industry removed that trade. We now use 3D modellers who have no idea of design, all they do is input data.

I annually build a Christmas Village Display of miniature lighted houses. Due to illness this year I did not get the pictures posted as early as usual. They are up now and if you are interested in a trip down memory lane please use the link below to see the village.

Larry, that was great and very detailed, thanks for sharing !

Just before Christmas I came across a similar project with two boys and their father that I thought I would share:

Thank you for the comment. I think one of the houses in the highlands may be coming available. Check with your real estate agent.

I really appreciate you commenting

In a word...WOW. Outside of photography, do you have other hobbies like this throughout the year? Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for looking. I think my photography, village designing ( I make a great deal of the scenic parts and many of the tree) and my rescue dog training are enough to keep me busy.

Glad you liked the village.

Fantastic detail. I'm sure it brightens up everybody's Christmas who sees it. What a great way, too, to combine your two hobbies...the town and photography.

One thing I'm sure of....you must not have a five year old little boy in the house!! Disaster!!

Actually I started this stuff when my son was only 6. ANd yes, the combining of my two hobbies has worked well. I often design village section just for photography purposes.

Amazing. I wish I had the patience to put together something so beautiful.

Thanks jsmangis. I think the patience I learned in photography trying to photograph wildlife helped with the village, and the patience working with the village helped with the photography.

Or something like that
