I annually build a Christmas Village Display of miniature lighted houses. Due to illness this year I did not get the pictures posted as early as usual. They are up now and if you are interested in a trip down memory lane please use the link below to see the village.

All I can say is wow, Larry! Outstanding, details and scenery, and I really like the descriptions of the people and places in your village. I thought my Christmas villages were nice, but pale in comparison to yours.
If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take you to set this up?
Thanks for posting!

Extremely well done Larry. Your technique of using selectively cropped close-ups translates well, tricking our minds to believe these are full-sized buildings. This is a "Best of Kind" President's Cup winner.

Thank you Dr. Soul. The village took 5 full days to set up. That translates to about 8 a.m. to about 9 p.m. The painting, and landscaping takes forever. And cutting and sanding the styrofoam to make things fit isn't quick either. But I love doing it.

Thanks for looking and commenting.

Thanks very much Bob. I knew those photographic techniques would come in handy at some point!!
The neighborhood kids (of all ages) love looking at the display and poking their noses up and down the side streets and lanes. That is what makes it so much fun. At least here in this village I can photograph snow and NOT have to get bundled up and cold to do it. But I still get to have hot chocolate. :) :) :) :) :) :)

A lot of work . . . with wonderful results! WOW, the "movie set" (model) is a display of patience and a theme in place. Well done! Thank you for also taking the time to take the images, process them and post them. Yikes!

Thanks for the info. I knew it had taken you considerable amount of time, getting all the little details just right.
Having built model RRs in N and HO scale I know how the scenery part is time consuming.
Again, great job on your village!

That is GREAT! I know how much work went into your display. Used to set up both Dickens and North Pole Villages every year. Would throw a big party for all the children in the neighborhood. Good time was had by all. But since we moved several years ago there aren't any children in the neighborhood so I don't set it up. Your pictures brought back fond memories. Thanks for the great pictures.

Thank you Chris. It just wouldn't be Christmas without the village. And the kids in the neighborhood really like to look at it. Their faces make it worth while.
