I fully agree with you. Get rid of all that kit glass, and go with the Tamron SP 24-70mm f2.8 VC USM. You already know what this lens can do. The 50mm is the cheapest lens you have, and it totally plastic. You can save for your next lens, which should be something like the Canon EF 70-200 f4L IS USM. That will cover all your normal range from 24-200mm with great glass. Don't forget Tamrons normal warranty is 6 years, vs Canons paltry one year, even on "L" quality glass. Good Luck,
B
Very good advise. I keep the 24-70 on my camera most of the time. I have another camera I keep my 70-200 on.

You have just learned the difference between "kit" glass and Pro glass, as well as why the Pro glass costs so much more. Its all about image quality! Anybodys 24-70mm F2.8 will outperform your kit lenses, get it and use it. The only problem then is that you will have to save up for a 70-200mm F2.8 to get more range! ;)
I agree, until I switched to mirrorless, I used this lens with my D300 (Nikon) and loved it.

B&H has the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 OS HSM for $519. It's a very good lens and it's less than half the price.
