I've noticed that 42nd Street Photo consistently advertises photographic products at a considerable discount from B&H and Adorama. Does anyone have any comments on this? What has been your experience in dealing with 42nd Street Photo?

Don't even consider 43nd St. They will try to upsell you on everything and very little they say is truthful.

They may have what you want but they will telephone you and try to get you to buy extras you may not actually need.

I have dealt with them.

I've done ALL my purchases from B&H for 11 years with NO ISSUES.
Maybe this helps.

Thanks for your reply. My initial reaction was if it's too good to be true......

I've purchased a LOT of used equipment from B&H as well as some new. I once received a new zoom lens that wouldn't focus on my Canon body. The focus "hunted" endlessly. I called and they Emailed me a return label, UPS prepaid, and sent me a replacement immediately (no waiting for the defective one to arrive there). I couldn't ask for any better service!

B&H - With the exception of their policy of not allowing parcel pick-ups at UPS stores ( no problem with returns from said stores) , they are an excellent company and I recommend them.

A few years back a friend of mine went to 42, for a computer system, advertised in the Sunday Paper. I had a color monitor listed. When he got there he asked for the color monitor in the flyer. He was asked if he wanted the red color or the green. LOL.. serious.

I have patronized B&H as well as Adorama and had superb experiences with both.
Patient, well trained and proficient staff take what time is necessary to ensure your needs are met.

B&H particularly goes out of their way to ensure I was satisfied.
Hope this helps.

Never used 42nd street due to the folks on this site sharing their experience

They is no comparison! BandH is in a class by itself.great fair prices no tax free shipping on most items and incredible service and advice.their store is amazing. I was just there in dec.and bought a lens --quick shipping great advise as well as friendly, knowledgeable staff who were more than happy to let me play with a bunch of gear.they are the only people I deal with except Mtshooter. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.deal with b and h -you will not be disappointed --Rich
