42nd St. Photo vs B&H

I've purchased both new and used equipment from B&H, they are a class operation. I have been in the 42nd St. several times thru the years while visiting family. Something about the operation that always said don't buy from them.

I've noticed that 42nd Street Photo consistently advertises photographic products at a considerable discount from B&H and Adorama. Does anyone have any comments on this? What has been your experience in dealing with 42nd Street Photo?
Stick with B&H. You can't go wrong.

Fly-by-night old-school photo ripoff store. Avoid them at all costs. They have a horrible reputation.
I am from NY. BTW.

They is no comparison! BandH is in a class by itself.great fair prices no tax free shipping on most items and incredible service and advice.their store is amazing. I was just there in dec.and bought a lens --quick shipping great advise as well as friendly, knowledgeable staff who were more than happy to let me play with a bunch of gear.they are the only people I deal with except Mtshooter. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.deal with b and h -you will not be disappointed --Rich
Rich,
Thank you for the kind compliment.

We seem to get a question about this place at least once a week. No good news about 42nd St Photo.
My suggestion is that only buy from authorized dealers. I use Nikon cameras and lenses. I only buy from Adorama and B&H. They both are equally excellent. Sometimes, their rebates or discounts are different. One has better price match policy than another one. This is why sometime I chose to buy from one over another. I have bought 100% of my Nikon products from these two. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars including Nikon D4S, D800, Nikkor 800mm, etc just for my hobby. Thanks!

Describes them exactly. Nothing more needs to be said, other than, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

As described by others B&H is an excellent company. I have found Roberts in Indianapolis to also provide good personal service at fair prices.
Go with B&H all the way. I use them for me and use them for work. Never had a problem.

Stick with B&H. They are not only tops for photo stuff (of which I've bought a bunch) but they have all kinds of neat stuff. I just ordered a mp3 player from them to replace one that died to use on my morning jogs.

Basically a tourist trap for NYC visitors. Slimy.

Night and day. Felon and upstanding citizen.... Stay away from 42nd. They are the felons....
I buy from B&H and have never had a problem all other stores in NY (Fumie, 42nd) are problem stores, and I will even put Amazon in the same class as I purchased what I thought was a new computer only to find out months later that the computer was pre-owned.

I filed a consumer fraud complaint about 42nd Street. What goniff's. I think they are taking advantage of 47th Street Photos name.
I have been dealing with B&H for over twenty years. An exemplary act. Once in a while, I will get something at Adorama because B&H does not have it. Adorama is also a class act.
