Plasma has a better viewing range to the sides and the picture quality is superior to LCD, although I haven't seen any of the new LCD's out now. Heat has never been a problem for me. I was told that the only drawback to plasma is that they don't do well in rooms with lots of light. Ours is in the family room in the basement, so that doesn't matter. Great picture quality. I'm happy.

Ifleischer1, plasma has gone away due to slim profit margins. They simply are not cost effective against LCD screens. Unless something affordable comes out that compares to the picture quality of plasma, I fear the day I have to replace my set!

Me too. Maybe OLED will be comparable in quality, or is that wishful thinking? My 55" Panasonic cost me about $1,000 less than the closest in quality, but still inferior, LCD last year. Oh well.

And don't forget about the weight difference between LED/LCD sets to plasma. My old Panasonic 50" plasma must have weighed at least 200 pounds and I needed to make sure that the wall hanger was securely screwed to the studs and not just the wall board or plaster.

No arguements on weight from me! I built my stand with flat steel and pipe to place behind my entertainment center, rather than drilling holes into my tongue and groove paneled woodwork! Gets it closer to the wall and made more space on top of my center. Yes, plasmas are heavy. Makes me feel like I actually got something for my money.....LOL!

I had a 46 inch Samsung plasma for four years until my home was broken in to and it with numerous other things were stolen! I was so pleased with the silky smooth sharp picture of the plasma that there was no way I would be satisfied watching my football games on anything else! Don't know about other brands but my new 55 inch and my old Samsung plasma heating up was never a problem!

They stole your plasma TV? It sounds like the theif wasn't working alone. Did the Police check the hospitals for people with hernias or lumbar strains?

You generally get what you pay for. My LG has various settings: sports, concerts, cinema, etc. Yours may have the same. Check it our under
specs.

You are right, had to be at least two people, no way one guy could have moved that TV from my home and in to a vehicle! I was away from my house for less than two hours and they cleaned me out! Had to be professionals!

They were probably watching you for a while. We are creatures of habit. Here's how it works ... One guy followed you when you left home ... The other two guys broke in after you left ... When you were appearing to go home the guy following you called his partners on a cell phone to signal them to leave.

Scarey Huh?

Our Plasma TV died, so I got a Vizio LED. One major change I noticed is how it makes film look. Films now look like live TV or video tape. I don't mind, but it does take some getting used to. Have any of you noticed this?

Hell...when I came home one day and found thieves emptying out my place, I called 911 and held the culprits till they arrive by having them at gun point on my property. The stupid police wanted to arrest me for brandishing a weapon. I told them if they shoot while I'm stopping a robbery of my own property, on my own property, then there's something seriously wrong with law enforcement.
I then produced my ID and carry permit but they still disarmed me and it took 15 minutes for them to confirm my ID and permit before even paying attention to the thieves and their first concern was to protect the people who were perpetrating the robbery.

POLICE in SOME AREAS ARE FOOLS. But then again, this happened in Florida. Go figure.

If that had happened here in the Philippines, the police chief would ask me why I wasted his men's time and not just shoot the thieves in the act?
Property owners seem to have more rights here than in the USA and the prisons here are no summer camp.

That's the exact scenario the police describe to me that they used!

Jerry, I have a Vizio TV that will make movies look that way if I want, but I don't. You probably have a setting for it. What mine does is change the refresh rate to 120 per second, with the result being a sharper picture in effect. Not my cup of tea. That is not what we grew up with. You should be able to set it to the normal 60 per. Perhaps I can help if you wish to persue it.

I had an old 10,000 BTU air conditioner in my bed room. It finally had to be replaced with a new unit. The new unit is also a 10,000 BTU unit and by replacing the old unit my electric bill went down by 50%. It paid for itself in the first year I had it.

I owned a two-apartment building for a few years. I lived in the upper one. My central air system could hold the temp down to 75 on a hot day if it ran constantly but cost about $150 - $175 a month to do so. It fried itself, I was going to sell the building at a loss because of the economic crash, and it would be $6000 I didn't have to replace the system. Both the inner and outer equipment had to be replaced because of the new type of freon being used. I put in (3) 8,500 BTU high efficiency window units at $150 each. They could literally freeze us out of the house, ran very seldom, and the electric bill dropped to $50 a month.

If a plasma TV was using 500 watts it would have been my "former" plasma TV long before now!
