I watched this video and it's good information. I have Lightroom 5.7 but I do not have a subscription. Is the subscription necessary to use the share feature?

My understanding is you don't need a subscription. In the library mode, you need to svnch the collection you want to share and there is a share button on the top right margin that creates the web address when you select it.

Thanks! I will give that a try the next time I want to send photos. I have not learned very much about using Lightroom yet because I do very little PP now, but I do want to learn how to use lightroom fully.

If you want free and easy, I'd suggest Picasa.

I showed my parents and mother-in-law how to use it in one sitting. Trust me, they don't get much in one sitting these days, so that should say something.

Any recommendations for websites that display "galleries" of photos for friends and family to view?

Not for selling photos, just for others to view.

Thanks!

Set up a free Facebook page and restrict it's visitors to friends and family only. Then only those who are invited can visit. Photos are stored in galleries there. You can also post data on your time line of who, what, when, and where about the gallery photos you have posted.

You can also create a Flickr page of your photos for free and send the link to those you want to tell about it.

Smugmug...it's not free, but it's really nice and user friendly. If you click on my user name, my site is listed in my profile. Feel free to use it to get a coupon code. It helps both of us out.

Google picasaweb works just fine (integrated with Google+ now I think). You can upload your albums and in the settings either make it public for anyone to see or make it private to be seen by anyone with the link. You get 15 gb for free.

Dropbox? That's not a website to display galleries!

He just wants to share with family and friends if I read his post correctly, you post your pics and invite folks to see them.

I use DropBox.com for most of my stuff. I have a file that I add/subtract with my son, (the photoshop guru) and open/load files i send the link to people I have done work for. Couldn't be happier with a service for sharing.

He also mentioned it being a gallery to view. Dropbox is just a file folder with no fancier gallery enhancements.

Well, I agree with you that if he wants a gallery dropbox may not be his best choice, if he just wants to post pics for only people whom he invites to view then dropbox is a good option.
