This is not a racist statement. Why is it that every time someone points out the inferior status of a group, it is labeled racist, when in reality it is just plain truth.

I kind of thought the group being referred to was Baltimore youth,it was not a general statement about youth, but specific enough to also separate them from so called law abiding citizens.

Reading comprehension is difficult when trying to interpret some writings.

I knew if we kept at it we could digress to the usual name calling and B.S. that the OP is an expert at starting. Take your politics to another area,if you please.

Good observation Dave, yes, I believe it started when someone called someone else a "meathead".

No, it is racist because Baltimore is a predominantly African American city and the SAT is not a pass/fail test. Therefore it is a false pejorative applied to a place known for being predominantly of one particular race.

Only a racist would view Baltimore through the prism of color than assume the comment only applied to African Americans.

You are what's wrong with the country right now.......sometimes a banana is just a banana, unless of course you're a pervert (or in this case, a racist).

Well, I was posting to jointerjohn, not you, and I think I have followed it all pretty damn well.

Summary: JJ clearly stated that the guy who posted about the SAT scores in Baltimore was a racist because Baltimore has a lot of African Americans. In other words, he based his comment on skin color, which is by definition racist.

Did I miss something!!!!

Being away from high school for over 70 yrs. Are SAT Tests required now in High Schools? :D

What I did read in another location was that some JUNIORS were taking the SAT test, also. They brought the failure rate to another level.

A test is not based on race only what a person has the capacity to retain, understand and relate.
I am a retired CPA and CFP. On occasion I give lectures regarding those professions. I would say all college students are not doing well.
I am amazed at their inability to string together a thought process and express the result. It is foolish to talk about eye contact or the use of "tense" in this case I am using the word as noun.

As the parent of a not that long ago college graduate, I remember quite well how large the SAT loomed in his desire to attend a top tier school. The competition was fierce then as it is now. We spent a small fortune (as did many families) on SAT tutoring. He took the SAT the first time when he was a Junior. The tutoring probably helped a bit as his final scores were higher than his first try. Other factors are considered in the Acceptance practice but a high SAT score helps a great deal. My son was lucky, he got to where he wanted to go. This is a story that applies to a narrow class of students when compared to the broad spectrum of those wanting to go to college. I wouldn't go as far as collhart in saying that "all" college students are not doing well, but an awful lot of college grads are undeserving of the degrees they received.

Sorry for going on and on.

When I worked for the state, as a maintenance person, I was told that i could not ask for a "Spade" because the word "SPADE" is a racial conotation. I had to ask for a pointed tip shovel. Damn !! for all this political correctness.

{ Pardon my spelling, plerase }
