I purchased a D5300 in October. It came with a manual. I also purchased The David Busch Field Giude. It is far superior! I highly recommend it.

As long as some are recommending other manuals for Nikon i thought I would remind about Thom Hogan guides.

Thom Hogan specializes in manuals and information for Nikon only, a Nikon expert. Some think they are the best out there. For DSLR he lives Nikon.

So a search for Thom Hogan Guide and your Nikon model number.

The one I got was on DVD and yes you have to take to Kinko's or whoever, to print out. The one for my camera included a quick to go guide which was spiral bound hardcopy.

The full manual stays on your computer or tablet/smartphone and the added hardcopy on the go guide goes in the camera bag. Good stuff. Always good to have no matter if you reference the factory manual or not.

Hogan's web sites now includes all mirrorless, so a good place to bookmark.

Check it out in addition to the Nikon factory manual

You can take in a CD with the on line manual and have a service bureau like Office Depot make copies of each page for about $0.10 each. Once done you can ask them to bind it for you.

Just bought a new D750, and it came with two manualsÂ…the one in English is 506 pages long! While I haven't had to use it yet (I bought an e-Book that is much easier to understand) I like having it as a ready reference especially when traveling without a laptop or tablet.

It's not too encouraging that Nikon can't seem to correctly answer this simple question. By the way, the manual, which is B&W, is printed in Thailand and cannot cost very much to print and include with the camera. The big cost is writing and illustrating it.

I may just be different, but I like the PDF better than the manual, I all was know where it is, I can use the PDF search tools to find what I need. It is always with me by using my smart phone.

Apparently Nikon no longer includes an Owner's Manual with their new cameras (confirmed with Nikon). Its available in a PDF file off of the interent, but there can be hundreds of pages.

Does anyone know of a source from which you can purchase a printed copy?

I have one for my camera purchased years ago, and I can't tell you how many times I go back to it for operational information.

What camera body are you referring too? I just purchased a D810 not too long ago and it came with a printed manual.

I bought a new D610 in September from Cameta and got a paper manual in English and one in Spanish. By the way, if anyone out there would like a Spanish language manual, PM me and it it is yours for the cost of postage.

I find having the manuals on the computer in PDF makes it easy to find what you are looking for. Nikon has all the manuals available on their site online

My new D750 came with manual. Maybe you got a refurb or bought from a re-seller?

Check sources like Amazon. My D7100 came with a 350 page manual but I have since purchased 2 books and a DVD on that particular camera. And I find the books better than the manual that came with the camera. I would particularly recommend field guides by David Busch. There are many to choose from.

The camera specific books by David Busch are far superior to the manuals. He not only explains how things work, but why.

I have manuals for my D90 and SB600 on my IPod. Downloaded an App from the App store years ago. Search for "Nikon Manual Viewer" from the app store or Google Play.
