Athentech's primary market is the photo kiosks you use at various stores. They automatically do what folks won't do themselves. They are now trying to enter a new market. I used the beta stand alone program and was not terribly pressed. Now have the plug ins for pse11. Hardly ever go there. I think for it to work well you really need to invest significant time.

My Corel PaintShop Pro X6 came with an Alentech Perfectly Clear plugin. It can be found under "Effects" and then "Plugins". I use it some, mostly on landscapes.

texashill, you said you primarily use it on landscapes, but how were the results. Would you use it again?

Yes, I use it at times. I am a Realtor and, of course, take mostly photos of property. Most of the shots that I take have a house with shadows or an interior that needs lightening. I use mostly "Fill Light" followed by a little other tweaking. But sometimes, as with the photos below, I do prefer to use the Perfectly Clear plugin.

PaintShop Pro is not very expensive and the plugin comes with it, so, it is probably just a small portion of the whole program that you are asking about.

Has anyone used the newer editing program called perfectly Clear(by athentech co.). Will automatically correct underexposures, overexposures, noise, contrast problems etc. in one click pixel by pixel. Many pros are using it to pre-edit their photos before editing their favs in ps,lightroom to expedite their workflow. Your opinions on it?

I trialed it for a month in my real estate photography work. I put about 500 photos through it. I shoot HDR indoors so the dynamic light range is already nicely controlled. So Perfectly Clear had trouble making significant changes to those thus the results after PC were sometimes too dramatic and ugly. But when I put about 100 single exposures of family, vacations, etc. through it, PC was quite impressive and did exactly what it claimed to do.

It can be bought online for $112 after using a coupon. I'd give it an excellent review and say it works well as a tool to speed up workflow on single frames. Any decent editing software can do what it does but making all the changes manual by using your eye takes much longer than popping it through PC then see if what it comes up with agrees with your eye and many times it does.

Thanks for that tip! I just ordered it from Barclay's site at $81.95. I had been happy using it for the month trial but hesitated paying $112 for it because of the upcoming holidays but I couldn't resist $81.95!

Now I'm going to go see if I can find the free version for my Android tablet too! It shoots 8MP from the front camera so I used it for Thanksgiving table photos today and Perfectly Clear will let me see how good they can turn out.

I used the trial version as well, did not do anything any other quality program wouldn't do and it's very pricey. Although you could purchase the Paintshop Pro X7 Ultimate for $49.99 and it includes the Perfectly Clear 1.7 version and also includes face Filter, Auto FX Custom Variety Pack, AfterShot 2 and Winzip 18.5. You are better off purchasing this package.

Perfectly Clear 1.7 is VERY different than the new 2.0. The list of new features and abilities is a whole page long.

And at $81.95 right now during this Black Friday weekend, the Photoshop plug-in version is not what I call pricey. It's main feature for me is that I can create a custom preset for all the adjustments I like that will work the same 75 times in three to four hours that I edit per day then just click it once per photo to speed up my workflow dramatically.

Yes I noticed that the 1.7 was much different in my PSP X7, I was disappointed that it was not the 2.0 version. But then again, I did not see the 2.0 did much else anyway :(

So Corel got the 1.7 version for virtually nothing because it's discontinued and threw it in as a "bonus." It wouldn't make sense to include a $150 plug-in with a $49 program anyway.

If I could get $150 PC 2.0 with a $49 Corel Paintshop X7, I'd buy the PSX7, not even bother loading it on my hard drive and then install the PC 2.0 plug-in into my Photoshop for a massive savings of $100!
