Amos 'n Andy, like "minstrel" shows of the past, were played by white actors. And yes, they were funny at the time, but at the expense of those being laughed at, not laughed with. Let's laugh with each other, sometimes at ourselves, but not at another for his failings. We all have plenty of failings to go around.

I think. before he's been convicted of anything, we ought not castigate Cosby absent any concrete evidence. It's always easy to attack a celebrity purely because of their status and deep pockets. At this point, all we have are allegations and no proof. We should let the system do what it does before forming any opinions as to Bill Cosby's character and behavior. Consider that these women could just be disgruntled former employees who didn't get something they felt they deserved and are now taking their angst out on Cosby. On the other hand, he just may be guilty, and if so, shame on him for abusing his position of public trust. No, no one is perfect, but the more they are in the public eye, the more they need to strive in that direction. The unfortunate thing for Mr. Cosby is that even if he is proven innocent, the damage has already been done for him. I suppose we need to just wait until the investigation is concluded and the facts made known. Then, at that time we can form our own conclusions. Don't condemn him prematurely.

Just so you know, I am neither defending nor condemning the man. Just bringing out the point that the public is quick to condemn before it's justified.

Same false rumor as Our Gang. He didn't buy either. Go to You Tube and watch all the Amos and Andy you like

He didn't buy Our Gang nor Amos and Andy. Amos and Andy may have been portrayed by white guys on the radio but they were black actors on TV Go to You tube and watch both shows.

Bill Cosby, who's been a beloved comedian and sitcom star for decades, has been accused of sexually assaulting multiple women. Cosby, 77, who was never criminally charged in any case, settled a civil suit in 2006 with a woman over an alleged incident two years before, The Associated Press reported. Cosby's attorney, John P. Schmitt, issued a statement Sunday saying his client would not dignify “decade-old, discredited” claims of sexual abuse with a response.

I just saw him on TV, he looks like a beaten, resigned, old man, I’ve never seen him like this. Six women have now come forward. Are these charges true or false? The networks are dropping any shows of Cosby’s planned or already filmed. Could this man, who did stand-up and TV shows where he was the wonderful father and sometimes even lecturing us, possibly (GULP) even be acting? You mean he was a man, with failings like any other man? Thoughts?

If this is true, he has badly let down the male-side of the human race. There's nothing worse than a hypocrite.

Bill has made the "mistake" of being a black man with conservative views. He has stepped off the liberal plantation and he must be put in his place. The same thing happened to Justice Thomas during his confirmation hearings. Remember Anita Hill coming out of the woodwork with some ancient story alleging some misconduct?

Riiight... because NOW would be the perfect time to go after a man in his 70's?????? That's BS for an excuse. *IF* he is guilty it will come out. I'm reserving judgment till that happens. I'm one of those liberals who happened to really love Cosby growing up. My friends and I would listen to his stand up routines and memorize them and repeat lines back and forth to one another and laugh. I actually agree with some of his views on certain things. However, if he is guilty (proven) then, and only then, I will change my opinion of him.
I'm not going to dignify the Clarence Thomas commenter further than to say.... he knows what happened. His judgment day will come.
If you were a woman in this "rape culture" where the victim is shamed and blamed for someone else's conduct repeatedly, you might not be so willing to come forth and tell people what happened.. especially when that someone is in a position of celebrity or power. I'm guessing by the screen name you're male and unless someone close to you has had to go thru something like that, you most likely have no idea what it's like. Walk a mile in that person's shoes before you judge.

The quoted statement was one that Bill's lawyer made. Bill has simply said the allegations are not true.

Let's be just here and live up to the maxim that a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. I know that the numbers of allegations are overwhelming, but still...

He doesn't seem to be taking legal action against them for slander etc. Should be cell mate with the father of the decade Woody Allen, child molester big time. Anyone else would be in jail. I guess they have the same get out of jail card as Catholic priests.

My god, some of you people make me sick. I was taught it's innocent until proven guilty. But you people sure have him guilty now!!! Especially the news media.. Cosby asked that certain parts of an interview not be made public due to this matter, they said no..... they don't give a damn if he's guilty or innocent, they just want to make him out as being a criminal, either way. Why is it these women waited 20 years to come out with the accusations? Why didn't they do this when all this was supposed to happened? Gee, I smell money. Anything to destroy a person's life. Guilty? innocent? money? I guess it doesn't matter, either way his life is ruined..

I'm with Cosby on this. He has dared to wander off the "plantation" of the left; he holds the black population to account for 70+% births to single mothers; social and economic ills that plague his own people; and the dire straits that black youths (victims) find themselves in today at the hands of the Al Sharptons of the world.
Opportunists are piling on, wanting to destroy this man for telling it like it is.

Well said - I am 77 yrs - same as Bill and have been a fan of his for oh so many years. I have liked his humor and have liked his speeches and lectures to his fellow Blacks - "BUT" I did have a very close and upfront encounter with Mr. Cosby and his travel group for 2 weeks in the late 60's while he was entertaining at Harrah's Tahoe South shore room and staying in Bill Harrah's guest house - he had 4 next to his home for friends and entertainers - these folks were clean, neat, well mannered - "BUT" took total advantage of the generality of Bill Harrah. I will not say they stole anything but it did take 2 large U haul trailers with freezers to take the 1 1/2 inch porter house steaks, liquor and cigarettes they ordered daily from the Safeway I worked in. They could buy any thing they wanted and charge it to Bill Harrah's account and the DID - every day for 2 weeks.
My opinion is I personally don't doubt the accusations - this whole thing smells like one of those "Religious Leader Gets Caught" stories.

The only evidence was, as I understand, not taken. A rape kit showing DNA is the only scientific true evidence. If there were a couple women, I could agree with your first supposition. There is up to 13 women, I believe, now. These women will get nothing monetarily because the statute of limitations has run out. I think he's guilty as hell.

i truly hope he innocent. proof that you don't have to be vulgar to be funny. If he is guilty he still has the right to a fair trial. He should be presumed innocent until proven guilty. people should not jump to conclusions about this. one question that needs to be asked is why no one reported the assault to the police. why now is this coming to light.
