My test at 6400 was a disaster. I am considering send this unit back for an exchange.

Hope it is an isolated issue. Have been researching low light / high ISO capable cameras for indoor sports under poor lighting. Kept coming up Nikon. Was hoping the ll would solve that dilemma for me in order to avoid changing brands. Heard Canon may need a firmware update to solve a few issues. Think I will wait a few months and see how this shakes out. Sorry you've had problems.

Might I suggest you try the Al Servo Mode Selections with a Canon brand lens first. I shoot mainly with a Tamron 70/200 f 2.8 lens in the fall and I have noticed all of my Tamron lenses tend to struggle in low light in AI Servo Mode I can't even use that selection for sports I have to use Al Focus. The only time I can shoot AI Servo is with my 70-200 kit lens.

Canon said the lens should not make a difference, just that I need to use the same lens when testing to compare focus. For now I'll use my 6D for clients.

I'm glad you told us what it is a pic of 'cause it isn't evident - looks like some kind of fur or something. Sure do wish you had made a pic that had a distinguishable subject. Of course, I am getting on in years...

To help you, the beak is just about center. The eyse are closed and are, well, above and to the right and left of the beak. There is a tilt to the head...

You reallly can't see that it is an owl???

Really??

Yow, I finally managed to see what it is. At my age you try not to tilt your head too far 'cause your body may follow it and you can find your butt on the floor beside your chair. I'm wondering what ever happened to a nice black and white target pinned to the fence outside, a target where you can check out the dynamic range as well as whatever noise is there??? You can find about anything in a furball... well, maybe 'cept an tilted owl.

I'm lucky so far. My 6D has the high ISO thing well covered. Now, if these guys start posting action sequences where every shot is perfectly focused I think my check book is going to take a hit! Starting to get the itch to do some sports photography and boy, does the 7DII look tempting!

      Seconded!

Sometimes you just have to say, "I want a 7DII for birthday. Any questions?" :)

My fiancee and I have an agreement. I don't question her musical instrument purchases and she doesn't question my photography/ astronomy gear purchases. (Admittedly, she is on slightly solider ground, being a professional musician while I only occasionally make some pocket money with my cameras.)

Yes, but I'll bet she can't capture those beautiful fall images around the finger lakes on her Viola! lol

To be honest, it toll me a while too. But once you see it, you see it.

My birthday is coming up too, but I am using my present now on this iPad Air 2. Maybe Christmas.

My birthday is coming up. I keep dropping subtle hints like "I really want the 7DII!!!" but so far she has not picked up on it![/quote]

Or you can just say, "Honey, I will take care of purchasing my birthday present this year!"

But she might say the same for her birthday. She has much more expensive tastes.
