Photo of an Owl in a tree shot with the 7DM2
100-400 mm lens 1.4x + 2X efective 1800 MM F22 1/1250 shutter 16,000 ISO hand held from 15 feet away
EXIF says 800 mm but it does not add the 1.4 to it.

I wish you guys would quit posting these great High ISO shots from the new 7Dii . It like holding cheese in front of a mouse. Sooner or later I am going to bite. Great capture, great shot. Any noise reduction in post process?

What you think is the utility/application for a setup of this sort?

While there is noticeable noise when viewed at actual pixels in Photoshop CS6, that is outstanding performance at 16,000 ISO. I found that Topaz DeNoise removed the noise perfectly.

Thanks :) :)
No raw converter yet for Adobe I used Irfanview to view a make into a jpg if there is any noise reduction then it is built in to Irfanview

Just playing around to see what I can get out of the combination I have used it before on the 400 2.8 and it will auto focus most of the time
maybe to just get a record of an event

I will have to try Topaz on them. I had tried to use Raw Therapee but a learning curve so I will wait until Adobe includes it in the next raw update.
I do mainly sports shooting. I stay on the 6400 range most evenings. Being able to take it to 12,000 would be a dream if I could remove the noise in post process without distorting the participant. Was hoping to order one before we got to the playoffs. But looks like I will have to wait till after tax returns.

NOT POSSIBLE!!!!
The camera only scored a 70 at DxO, so it is not possible that shot is from a 7DII!!!
The only thing that matters is the Sensor score!!!!
Actual pictures should not be used as evidence!!!
I know this because that is what Nikon users say!!!

Maybe you would like to look at the metadata from that image. It plainly states that the camera is Canon EOS 7D Mark II. I know that your comment was positive and you are right we should not use an actual photo as evidence! Great new camera, wouldn't you say!! :) :) :)

Ever heard of satire?
Of course
I believe it is from the 7DII. But reading other posts in other 7DII threads, there are those who MUST say it is impossible or their whole belief system is threatened.

I did know that it was satire. I loved it. The metadata was really for the benefit of those who believe that a shot like that would not be possible with that camera. There was no intent to offend you.
I took this one a few nights ago with the MK II at 16000.
500 shutter and lens at 7.1 in manual mode.
This was taken as a jpeg, not a RAW file and there is only a few minor tweaks in PS and a touch of NR.
I'm not saying this is a prize winner or anything special with excellent IQ, and I would not want to make a habit of high ISO shooting. But if someone was in a once in a lifetime situation where super high ISO might mean that's the only way you could get the shot, this isn't tooooo bad from a crop sensor action camera.
Oh, and I didn't monkey around with the background or anything. The setting sunlight reflected a rosy hue off the clouds and onto the still water of the marsh in certain areas. That's right where this guy was standing.

  Great shot, for a high ISO ! The owl shot I was playing around to see what I could get out at high ISO
A hell of a lot better than the old 7D. I think the max was 800 ISO, and that was pushing it.

I didn't even like having to go above 400 with the original 7D.
