Ovee the past year I invested in a camera system. However it is getting too much to carry around and my focus has changed to post processing. I am going to give the equipment to my daughter.
I want to take one camera with me, high quality camera, preferable fixed lens or a limited fast zoom lens that I can use for street, some landscape and people. Is there a camera?

I scaled back to 2 cameras, essentially one for travel and primarily outdoors, the lumix zs30. But my go to camera now is the 4/3 lumix gm 1 on which I have a 14-140 lens. Tho for low light indoors I use the kit lens it came with. I may buy the 25 mm f 1.8. Tried the Sony 100 series and didn't like it.
Friends have liked the lumix 200 but even that's big for me to carry around. The micro 4/3 systems seem to be much more accommodating to those of us who want to simple down and reduce weight. Interested in what you decide

The new Sony's mirrowless cameras are supposed to be among some of the best out there. Price starting at 600.00 and up.

Ugh! Too...many...choices. Brain...boiling...over.

Yes, there is such a camera - about a dozen of them. When you've narrowed your choices, look at snapsort.com and dpreview.com to compare features. Google Camera A vs Camera B. Also, consider what other features you want, like Wi-Fi, GPS, HDR, etc.

Let us know what you decide.

I have been researching the Panasonic Lumix FC 1000. It fits the bill for me ...and I plan on moving to it soon. Check it out...it may be what you are looking for...
Good Luck in your search..!!

There are several major manufacturers that have all-in-one cameras. I've been using an Olympus SP560. Big zoom and great macro. I like it for the back lighting feature. Had it for years. I shoot real estate. Always want the room and the view through the window. Fill flash works good until the room gets too big. Some of the trophy homes have giant great rooms with monster views. Not enough flash. Now I'm going for a later model with more features. I am about to buy the Canon SX60. 65X zoom. 21mm-1355mm. Has a hot shoe. I can add a flash system with slaves. The tipping point is In-Camera HDR. It takes three exposure bracket photos and puts them together in the camera. Might not have to use a flash indoors. We'll see. Great for landscapes with shadows. 60fps video. The big zoom closes down to the same size as an SLR. Fits in my ski jacket pocket. $549 retail. Might go on sale for the holidays.

How about using your existing body with a 18-200 or 18-300 lens? Shouldn't that should cover just about everything without having to change lenses?

One important point you don't mention is; what focal length do you tend to shoot at?

You can use any lens in any situation depending on what effect you are going for; 300mm for landscape? Sure! 85mm for street? You bet!

What focal length is your favorite?

i have a FF that takes great photos...It's big bulky and weighs a ton. About 2 months ago I picked up the Sony rx100 m3 (viewfinder a must for me).. It has a 24x70 1.8 to 2.8 zeiss zoom on it built in flash shoots raw, manual, and all the automated modes.. It too takes fabulous sharp detailed photos with it's 1" 20 meg sensor. IT FITS IN MY POCKET.. It goes everywhere with me. Need I say more?

Take a look at the Fuji X100s. It is mirrorless, 16mp with a beautiful fixed 23mm lens (35mm equivalent).

I have an x-e1 with interchangeable lenses. Fuji glass is pretty amazing and that 23 is about as good as it gets.

My x-e1 had a bit of a learning curve which was fun too. To give you an idea of the difference, I just bought a Cannon 70D for the kind of fast focus needed to keep up with the grandkids. But, for landscape and portraits you can't beat the output of the Fuji

I have the Olympus EM10 with a 14-150 lens. I'm very happy with it and is the system I take if I'm only taking one camera and lens.

Depending on what is too much and what you want to do, Canon T5i or SL1 with kit lens? Sigma 17-70, bit shorter, longer, faster, heavier, or Canon 18-135 (another kit lens), Really smaller, G series?

I don't know your budget. Both of these cameras cost around $900 last I looked. If you want to spend less consider the Panasonic FZ200 bridge camera and Nikon P7800 compact. The FZ200 has a 25-600 f/2.8 lens, but a small 1/2.3 inch sensor. The P7800 has a 28-200 f/2-4 lens, a larger 1/1.7 inch sensor, and an EVF. Nikon USA has refurbished P7800 cameras for $400.

Listen to MarkD, above. I have a Nikon P7800 and am still finding how much it is like having a D5300 I can put in my pocket. Granted, it makes a large bulge. Also, it's refurbished by Nikon and cost only $390. An amazing camera!

Why not just switch to a cell phone with a decent camera?
