Ovee the past year I invested in a camera system. However it is getting too much to carry around and my focus has changed to post processing. I am going to give the equipment to my daughter.
I want to take one camera with me, high quality camera, preferable fixed lens or a limited fast zoom lens that I can use for street, some landscape and people. Is there a camera?

Your budget and size limitations would be a good place to start, without at least that, you pose a pretty open ended question. I personally would go to a store and see how each candidate you narrow things down to feels in YOUR hands. I would make a list of "must have" features to help narrow the field down.

What about a point and shoot with a zoom lens? Panasonic lumix uses a Leitz lens. Very sharp. I am going thru that too. Let me know what you decide. Maybe go into a Best Buys. You know more of what you want then they do.

Heck with the budget!

I own two that I think fit in the "high quality camera, preferable fixed lens or a limited fast zoom lens" catagory.

My first favorite has been the original Sony RX100. It is pocket size tiny and image quality is high. The new ones are even better. Version III has a viewfinder and improved video recording.

A Panasonic GX7 with a Lumix 14-140 seems to be replacing the RX100 as the camera I grab most frequently. It weighs two pounds, is compact and both photo and video quality are high.

With the introduction of 4K video, there are a view on my "lust list". They include the compact Panasonic LX100 (just out) and FZ1000 bridge camera with a fast lens. Whatever replaces the Sony RX10 will be on my list if it shoots 4K.

Get a M4/3 mirror less ICL compact camera with a basic 14-42mm zoom lens from Panasonic or Olympus, it will fit your need! Check them out.

m4/3 sounds like it might fit the bill. You could go a little further with a couple of their small lightweight lenses, like the 12mm f2, 15mm f1.7, 20mm f1.7, 25 f1.8, 45mm 1.8, and 14-42mm EZ version.

My 20 and 45 are so light and small, I don't notice that I even have them on me. Lenses like the 12-40 and 75mm are spectacular, but they are not small, or all that light.

The EM10 would pair well with any of the above lenses.

I understand that the Panasonic Lumix series have a fixed aperture of f2.8. It has a Leica lens and you can get wide angle out to 600mm (equivalent) in one camera. If you'd like to check out photos taken with one of these cameras, go to Carol Snow Milne Photography on facebook. Her photos are very sharp.

Are you referring to the entire line of Lumix cameras, or just the FZ1000?

The Panasonic LX 100 looks like a winner to me, unless you need a longer lens. Read about it HERE and HERE.
Micro 4/3rds sensor, electronic viewfinder, retro controls...
What's not to love?

Since I don't have one, I could not specify which one to purchase. I don't think that Carol has the latest one. Isn't the latest the FZ2000?

However, if we ever take a European vacation, one of these Panasonic Leicas is the camera that I'll take. I'd like to get decent photos, yet simplify things for a trip like that.

If you want a pocket size camera consider the Sony RX100 III. It has a 1 inch sensor, a fast lens, an EVF (electronic viewfinder) but a very limited zoom. If you want more reach and don't mind a bigger camera consider the Panasonic FZ1000 bridge camera. It has a 1 inch sensor, a relatively fast lens, and a zoom in the 24-400 or 500 range.

I don't know your budget. Both of these cameras cost around $900 last I looked. If you want to spend less consider the Panasonic FZ200 bridge camera and Nikon P7800 compact. The FZ200 has a 25-600 f/2.8 lens, but a small 1/2.3 inch sensor. The P7800 has a 28-200 f/2-4 lens, a larger 1/1.7 inch sensor, and an EVF. Nikon USA has refurbished P7800 cameras for $400.

If I consider fixed lens camera (maybe I will sometimes in the future) it would probably be Fuji X100S or X100.

I adopted your idea a year or so back, and I finished up with an Olympus EPL-5 and a Panasonic 14-45 lens. I do have a Sigma 19mm prime lens but rarely use it.
The pictures with 14-45 lens are excellent and combined with the EPL-5 it makes an all round lightweight camera.

Although I carry a bit more than this, I find myself using my D700 with a 28~300mm almost exclusively.
