Tamron 150-600 order

I ordered the Tamron 150-600 from Amazon Sept. 10th -
They told me to expect it to be delivered between Oct. 8th and 29th -
Well it didn't happen -
They sent me a message that they may have it buy Jan. 29th.
I canceled the order because I got mad !
Checked on-line and a Charlotte camera store said they had one in stock.
Well I called and it was gone.
They took my number and said they would call me when they got one in.
Well they called me today (one week later) and said that it was in.
Will pick up my new Tamron 150-600 in the morning (Tuesday)
Got it in one week ....

Got mine last month - waited 2 weeks. You're gonna love it, but there is definitely a learning curve.

Enjoy!!!

Price may have played a part in that order, I have noticed it cost about $130 more now

Maybe that is the reason of why major retailers do not have stock?
aka smaller stores get priority first?

That would explain why medium to small stores have them in stock but the biggest ones have gigantic backlogs.

I did the "Get in line and wait" BS for about 2 months.
When I got the run around from the store to my inquiry as to an estimated delivery date for these backordered, I decided to go hunting.
Once I did that, at 6AM the next morning I bought mine online from a store about 25 miles away from me.
I searched, I saw, I bought. $1069.00
I was so flabbergasted, I called a bit after 9AM to make sure it actually happened. (And to make sure some dweeb didn't sell it out from under my confirmed purchase.)
Of course, they called me and wanted to sell be a 95mm UV filter/lense protector for $200. I declined.
Then recently I bought a filter for $9.95 to try out. Works good as far as I can tell.

Bottom line is: Be a sheeple and sit on your thumb for months. Or go out and get what you want.

PS: I'm sure glad it has it's own foot for mounting. I think it could rip the front off of my D3300 without it.

I went ahead and got the $200 Filter - Figured you get what you pay for.
With a lens that cost that much, why not go all the way ....

Well, YMMV.
But I can think of a lot of other needs for the $200.

My Monopod, which I use the most with my Big Tammy, and its ball head was $200. Sirui, P-326; G-10 ball head.

My lens filter, plus a lens filter kit amounted to mid-$40's. So I have 4 filters to play with. And if one gets scratched, just deposit in an appropriate container. ;)

My accessories for my macro adventures probably don't add up to $200. Extension tubes (2 sets), lens reversal adapter, aperture control, 4-way macro slider, remote (wired) shutter release to name some.
But then I was hooked, so I got a Macro lens and recently a geared head to enhance that end.

I kind of spread my kit into 10mm up to 600mm, and a bunch of nice ancillary items I liked to go along.
Things have to be practical to my logic for me to open my wallet. 2 or more applications usually. ;)

I can highly recommend a nice carbon fiber monopod as an accessory to your new Big Tammy. I love mine. I love its 15" closed length, and the ease of adjusting it in use. Not really sold on the ball head thing for a monopod, but I have it for now.

I use it mostly to shoot the Grandkids soccer games. But play at all sorts of stuff with it (Birds, bugs, critters).
I think you will love the lens.

ENJOY! :-D

I hope you have better luck than 3 of my friends did with this lens. One, shot it for 6 days straight, ever which way he could, no way could he get a sharp image, he sent it back. Another one, right out of the box it was blurry, and slow to focus, he returned it. The last week, kept his about 3 weeks, before returning it. Now these were all ones that were sold early on, so who knows...possibly a bad batch

So far so good for me - I hate that for him - I would have given up on it had I been him ......

Excellent!

If/when you get around to a Gimbal for it I can recommend Carter and his Camera Cottage.
He has the Nest Gimbal Head and it's great!
I ordered Thursday morning, mailman handed it to me Saturday afternoon.
