I got a lot of shots but disappointed in most of them. I had to turn up the ISO so much at full eclipse that I got a lot of noise. I will post some later if I get denoised enough to look presentable. It was a learning experience at least.

I was up too! Got some shots, posted a few. I was also a learning experience as I was trying out my new Sigma 105mm f/2.8 macro lens. I had good results though with the Canon 55-250mm lens. Maybe I should have tried the 100-300mm lens, but I am pleased with what I got.

I was using Canon 300 f4 but I got a lot noise.I should have opened up my aperture instead of cranking up ISO so much.

Was up at 3 am, showered, and drove to my preselected spot where I got everything set up and watched the clouds roll in. Gonna be one of those days. Lol

I went to a meeting of photographers the night before and on the way out I mentioned to the head honcho why did he not mention the magical blood moon eclipse, setting as the sun was rising; a once only probably occurance in a lifetime. "Supposed to be cloudy" well, yes but it was supposed to clear right after, and no one is ever 100% accurate. So I peek outside at like a quarter to 5 and see the full moon in a clear sky, the eclipse is starting in the upper left corner! I check the times, supposed to be full eclipse at 6:50am. So I start gathering my equipment, I don't have a good telephoto on my Nikon, only 200mm. I stand outside the door and shoot a few, but it isn't blood yet and I need my 300mm telephoto but is on my old Canon. even a 200mm telephoto shows only a small moon. So I get my Canon equipment out but the batteries are real low. I figure I still have time so I put em in a charger for an hour. Meanwhile I put cameras in the car, planning to drive down to a waterfront 5 miles down the road. I catch a glimpse of the blood moon starting but it is going behind some buildings. Eventually I am in my car heading down to the point on the Chesapeake, I get a few glimpses of the blood moon out the passenger window. I get to the park, but there is a barrier up so I can't get to the waterfront! The part that looks on the sunrise is open, but the road to the opposite view point where the moon is closed, not open yet, too early(?). I drive to another location, but the sun has come up, the blood moon has gone. I did get some all too brief glimpses of this rare epicurean delight, but no photos! I do hear this is the second of 3 eclipses of the moon within months of each other, maybe next time I can avoid the pitfalls. Once before I saw a lunar eclipse, but didn't have my camera (I was at work), it was spooky, because you can still see it, it was like an ember in the sky. They say you know you are a photographer when you keep wishing you had your camera with you. I think I have the disease!

I knew better and stayed in bed. My son took a look - at the cloudy sky.

None of you are stupid or crazy, IMO. I just hope you all get good pictures and share them. Good luck and thanks.
