Ironic that 42nd St has been one of the advertisers here.

I sure will contact them.

Don't just contact them made sure that you have documentation, hence hard copy. I find also to use CC rather than a Debit Card. With DC they "got Your Money." J. R.

Very often. That's why I know they advertise lower prices than all the other camera supply stores. They even beat Amazon. Are they really to good to be true. Read some reviews about them and they did nothing to convenience me to buy from them

I do see what you are talking about. I am afraid the role is now reversed from my original post.

If you missed it..........................I was agreeing with you.

Missing the point here I think.

42nd St Photo was always one of the big name in NY for camera equipment. It is concerning that they have come down to this.

And UHH allows them to advertise on this site. What does that tell you?????

I would report them to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC.gov) with the details. At least you will save some unlucky person from being scammed.
I would also report them to the Better Business Bureau!

Yes it does!!! Either way, not for me.

Back in the 60s 42 Street Camera was THE bricks and mortar camera store that sold absolutely everything associated with photography. An honest dealer of excellent reputation who stood behind what they sold, new or used.
How far they have fallen!

Where have you gone, Joe Dimaggio? A lonely world.......

Damn, how time passes!

But then...today we have B&H and some others of laudably high ethical standards, so can we really complain?

"I am - but you're not." Isn't that the real thought process? They do advertise on UHH - right? Or is it the administrators responsibility to protect me from myself? Just asking - nothing personal.

You are correct. And that's why I shared my experience with you today.

Be sure to contact your credit card company and let them know that no charges are to be made to 42 St., do this in writing and send register sig requested. Back in the day I made many purchases with many companies that have since changed business models. The flip side. If I am on budget restrains do I buy grey goods or used. If I am buying used do I buy from established companies or off the street. In my case I have gone to the street and founds some under used sharp equipment - what a gift. J. R.

most times too good to be true is just that.i have always been more comfortable in purchasing anythihg if possible face to face. years ago found a photo store in stroudsburg,pa. 1 hr. from my house, and store is 1 hr. from new york city stroud foto, dave butler thru the years has always had similar prices to the ny stores or close which i would pay a little more for in person to see what i was buying. just me i like to see it hold it when spending my hard earned dollars. maybe just a little old fashioned.

I try to find what I want, then try to find in locally to me.
If I can't, I'll do the reach out and wait on the Internet. I hate waiting for shipping.

But even a turd like me already knows better than to do business with 42nd Street Scamera. Based on fellow Hogger's remarks.
So the question is: Why?
Beyond the fact you were trying to save a buck, why even deal with them?
Are you one of those "hanging chad" folks down there in Floriduh?
