42nd St photo advertised the Nikon lens 70-200 f2.8 for $2100. The price was too good to be true. I ordered it right away. A Rep called me 2 days later telling me that " Oh Sir I'm sorry; that price was not for US warranty so you have to pay $2396 for the lens." I said to myself that sounds like a scam and let me put them to a test. Few days later I ordered the Nikon d810 that was advertised for $2700. Then 2 days later again somebody else called me with another story telling me that camera was not the right one so they will charge me $ 3200 for the good one. To me it's better to buy from the big names like B&H or Adorama because when you buy equipments from places like 42nd ST Photo there will be a lot of back and forth. It's like buying a used car from a used car lot. PLEASE, BE AWARE OF 42ND STREET PHOTO
I hope you canceled your orders and bought from someone reputable. Too good to be true is usually exactly that.
Since you have been here for 3 years, you can only blame yourself- all you had to do is search

Missing the point here I think.
42nd St Photo was always one of the big name in NY for camera equipment. It is concerning that they have come down to this.
Yes. After some rude comments from the Salesman, he finally cancelled the order for me. Now I have to make sure that I check my credit card for at least 6 months for any charge from that salesman. You never know.

I would report them to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC.gov) with the details. At least you will save some unlucky person from being scammed.

Be sure to contact your credit card company and let them know that no charges are to be made to 42 St., do this in writing and send register sig requested. Back in the day I made many purchases with many companies that have since changed business models. The flip side. If I am on budget restrains do I buy grey goods or used. If I am buying used do I buy from established companies or off the street. In my case I have gone to the street and founds some under used sharp equipment - what a gift. J. R.
I sure will contact them.

I prefer the phrase "bait and screw". Has a little more oomph!
