But it was my first time to paint a picture. I couldn't help but spill a little. LOL Actually I didn't add those features. They were included in the presets. Maybe I won't use those particular presets anymore. :-D

I suggest that "spills" is not one of the features you use again . LOL .
I loved the photo, but the first thing I seen was the speckled white dots. Said to my self, wow a nice photo killed with spots .. and wondered why they were on the photo.. I have been to many art museums all over the world and have yet to see paint speckled on the fine art . smile
Thank you for your critique, Tom. LOL I know what chromatic aberration is, but I haven't seen any on this pic, but I could have missed it. I'm going to post my original so you can point out the problem areas. I'm also going to repost this one without the paint spills. :-D I think you'll like fiddling around with this program, Tom. It has a lot of potential.

O.k. Donna, let us critique it. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! To be honest, this is the first Topaz program that I truly like (from seeing this post). I do have the Topaz suite. I am very impressed if this your first go at it. The only thing (and it has nothing to do with this program) that i would have done is to get rid of the chromatic aberration around the petals before using this technique. I think you may be on to something here becuase I have messed with this technique in photoshop and I have never come close to this. Interesting. I like it, and you know I don't like anything.

Thank you, Jim. I'm glad you enjoyed my very first efforts at fine art. :-D

Beautiful job Dixie, love it. :-D
I think I used the second oil preset, Dpullum but not sure. My husband uses Dynamic AutoPainter and loves it. I had not heard of Smart Painter before. Will check out your link.

Dixiegirl... which preset did you use for the Topaz Impression,,, I have downloaded, but need to play with it more before making a decision.
I use Dynamic AutoPainter see today's UHH

What settings did you use for the original photo.
Really beautiful!
I'm torn on the paint drops...

Thank you, GTin. I'm going to repost without the drops.

It took forever, but I've painted another. :-D This time I used the oil paint preset #1, and even it has a few 'spills' around the edges of the petals. I also found out how to use the texture, so I applied a slight canvas. Seems Topaz doesn't know how to do oils without being messy. :-D Tom, the original before paint applied is for you. Do you still see the problem you noticed with the painted rose?

Yes. It is very evident (in green) especially around the out of focus petals. It is a thinner, sharper green line around the in focus petals. You need to get rid of that. Some programs have a defringing function of some sort.
The reason I say that you need to remove that first before you start the Topaz program is simple. A person painting a picture of a rose is not going to add that sort of thing. Well, maybe Rembrandt would have if he had a camera but did not have photoshop or lightroom.
Seriously, do you see what I am talking about? That sort of thing is not found in nature, only through photography.
Oh, and I kind of liked the paint spots.
Maybe I'm due for a glasses change. LOL I can't see it, Tom. Are you seeing this in the one without the paint effect too? If it has something, I can zap it in CS6. I've never noticed any aberration in closeup shots, but I have in wide angle landscape photos where I've shot into the sun. I liked the spots too. :-D

O.k. 4 eyes, here goes: In the 2nd set, green aberration is present in the original. It is all over the place in the 2nd photo because of it; like it is overcooked.
Sorry about the 4 eyes thing, but you set yourself up for it with your remark about needing new glasses. Maybe you don't see it because you are too focused on what you are doing. I know, bad pun. Just consider the source.

This one is good too Donna, I will definitely download the trial and have a go. Will let you know when I post..... :D
LOL Thanks, Tom. I'm going to have to get a magnifying glass and really look this thing over. :-D
