Thanks for your service! If you are ever in Nampa ID checkout the Warbird museum! We had a big flying weekend before last. I'm not much of a photographer but wanted to share these. Again, you guys are appreciated greatly.

I flew the advanced party of the 1st Cav into An Khe when it was nothing more than a dirt strip. Made many trips in and out of there after that. Always hated flying through the An Khe pass at night as the VC had a habit of setting up a 50 cal there. At night the tracers looked like basket balls coming at you. Make sure you post some of your pictures after your trip.

I remember the tracer rounds coming so fast from our helicopters that it looked like a laser beam. This usually occurred when we were on red alert, which we were often, and the sky had an errie look from the magnesium flares along with the machine gun fire coming down from Hon Kon hill and the sound of mortars being reaimed to hit in our compound.
We will be making a stop in An Khe and it will be interesting to see what is left.

I was in I Corps '67 & '68, and spent part of the Tet offensive at Khe Sanh.

Because of a 3rd grade teacher, I grew up thinking I would die in a war. I joined the Air Force because I didn't think I would get shot at. That didn't work out.

Thanks to all who served and are serving.

War doesn't seem to differentiate branches of the service.

I worked with all branches. I consider them all brothers and sisters.

WAS; is a term that some Marines think that does not exist. Let me explain so as to confuse you and cause you further stress.
Once a Marine always a Marine.

Not as confusing as some smug pompous ass hole. The person I am referring to would be the next person you see in the mirror.

Huey Driver, I was in 17th Avn Btl-Caribous, An Khe and Pleiku 65-66. We had PSP runway shortly afterwards. Remember the 'tower?' I've got pictures somewhere, we were camped almost next to it. Where were you?

I was stationed at the 117th Avn. Co. at Qui Nhon 64-65. Flew in and out of Pleiku many times. At QN we had a concrete runway but PSP ramps for the parking area for our ships. I remember when Pleiku got mortared and we were scrambled but by the time we flew up there everything was over. Remember seeing a couple Hueys that were hit and burned to the ground and some hootches that were hit.

Pics of Pleiku gate and rocket damage. Know I have other pictures of that attack but where they are is anybodys guess.

I remember the long Toms there. I was with a Tropo site up behind the air strip in support of 4th Div.
