In addition to whatever camera or system you take how about taking the "GO-PRO"? By adding the LCD back and its waterproof housing it also has audio applications. Also you can do both video, single shot and multi-shot. This would also fit nicely into any PP needed when you get back home.

Do you use one? What is the picture quality like? lens quality? 5MP quality? I am very interested.

Planning a trip to Costa Rica, knowing we are heading to the Rain Forrest several times, is it worth investing in a rain sleave? or just putting the camera away if it starts to rain.

Here's a cheap alternative, looks happy with his purchase

If you watch football on TV you see all those white lenses and when it begins to rain all those white lenses have a rain sleeve on them they dont pack up and go home.

If it's a Canon "L" series lens they can take some water since they are water sealed when using a filter (normally UV). However, having said that, it's wise to to always protect your lens.

I find it a tad ironic that you have such a great camera but live in the "Arizona Desert"
