My father passed away recently. While going through the house I came across these photos. They were taken by my dads twin brother. I believe they were taken in 1944 some time after D-Day.

Those are great. My dad flew a B-25 Mitchell bomber in China, India, and Burma. I love these pics from the greatest generation.

Your pictures are treasures.
Looks to me by the flack in the air that these photos were taken while the war was still being waged.
My wife's dad flew the cargo version of the B-24 over the Himalayas (The CIB Theater) carrying gasoline to Kunming, China from Jorshot, Indian. This airplane was a war horse that got the job done. However many aviators lost their lives flying into these mountains - they used to call the route "The Aluminum Trail" because of all the airplanes and crews lost.

A truly outstanding set of images, especially #4. I've always been interested in the history of WWII, and it is a real treat to see these.

Wonder if the last one made it home? #4 is feathered and #1 is smoking badly. Absolutely a great collection. Thanks for sharing.

My uncle was also shot down. I'm not sure, but I believe he sat out the rest of the war as a POW.

I'm pretty sure these pictures were taken after D-Day. One of the pictures I have of a Spitfire on the ground has Lyon France written on the back. Thanks for looking Kingmapix.
