I think this shot is beautiful. The composition is dead on and the softness makes you wish you were there in person enjoying this scene. Great job with this "accident". :)

Very, very nice. I love the composition and the soft (or slightly out of) focus. The flare adds a certain element to it I can't quite describe but after staring at it a while I have decided I really like it. Don't you love when accidents turn out well?

This is a GREAT photo. Soft, warm, gentle - love the colors and the lens flare just adds to the mystique.

There are certain circumstances where a little lens flare works...they don't come along often, but I think this is one of those times it adds something to the image

Had you turned your AF back on, I don't think you would have had a nicer photo than this. The flares aren't distracting and the slightly soft focus has a nice appeal. Some times accidental photos are better then those done on purpose.

I think it is a great shot and I love the softness. I cannot understand why you used a ND filter unless you wanted a slow shutter speed. When I want to do that during a sunrise or sunset I use my tripod.

Hi Allissa,
I don't know for sure.
But I do know that at one place I worked, they put in a very elaborate and expensive close camera circuit to observe the station grounds and equipment.
One of the operators decided to look at the sun. :shock:
POOF! goes the camera's sensor. :hunf: :cry:
So based on that, I'm kind of shy of sun pictures, myself.
I was hoping maybe others here could shed some experience it.
Although, a DSLR has it's sensor exposed for a far shorter time. So maybe that is an answer?
