Breaking Some Rules...Sunrise Mistake?

I took this long exposure a few weeks ago at sunrise. Of course after I shot a few using a dark ND filter I realized that I had recomposed but never turned my autofocus back on to refocus. Therefore a few of my shots were going to be poorly focused. So this one I am pretty sure is one of them and of course there is tons of lens flair but turns out that I love this shot...soft and flairy (don't thing that is a word but whatever! lol) and yet it appeals to me so much. Some may not love it but I just wanted to share and curious what others thought. I won't be insulted if you don't love it because that is what makes the world go round...different strokes for different folks! :)

Sat staring at it for a while. I really like this composition. I think the out of focus lends it self to a warmer more serene feeling. Thank you for sharing.

You should be absolutely thrilled with the way this accidental photo turned out. I am surprised that even you admitted it to be accidental. Colors are great, the blur is dreamy and the photo has a sense of the mystical - nice job!

I took this long exposure a few weeks ago at sunri... (show quote)

I really,no really really like this shot. This is one of those rare occasions, were the lens flare actually enriches the image. Love that circular flare!!!!

I like it in spite of the flairy.
No blarney.

But now everybody is going to be at my favorite fishin spot.

This brings a question: When catching the sun, do you worry about damaging your cameras sensor?
I was wondering about that.

It seems to me that you might classify this shot as soft focus. I can see it is long exposure by the softness of the water. The fisherman looks out of focus because he moved, not your doing.
Good work!

Thank you! I showed it to my husband and he is really really (annoyingly) honest and critical and he loved this one too. Thanks for the response!

Thank you! The only mistake was the focusing..the composition, etc was all thought out...but I thought I wouls share because haven't we all clicked the shutter only to realize that the ISO was too high or the focus was off just a second too late? Happens to everyone and I am glad it did today. Thanks!!

Lol!! Hmmm...I really never thought of that or considered that it could hurt the sensor. Can it?

The composition and soft focus are marvelous. I love, love, love that part! Haven't decided about the flare :) though it does add a whole other level of interest and uniqueness.

Thanks! I am pretty sure but not absolutely sure that this is one of the shots that I didn't refocus on but luckily it was not completely out of focus and yes the movement of the fisherman from the long exposure I am sure added to the fuzzy quality. Thanks for your kind words! :)
