I took this long exposure a few weeks ago at sunrise. Of course after I shot a few using a dark ND filter I realized that I had recomposed but never turned my autofocus back on to refocus. Therefore a few of my shots were going to be poorly focused. So this one I am pretty sure is one of them and of course there is tons of lens flair but turns out that I love this shot...soft and flairy (don't thing that is a word but whatever! lol) and yet it appeals to me so much. Some may not love it but I just wanted to share and curious what others thought. I won't be insulted if you don't love it because that is what makes the world go round...different strokes for different folks! :)

I really like everything about this image. The intense color, the lens flare, and the soft focus all combine to give it a sort of dreamy, other-worldly effect. Please make more "mistakes" like this. Congrats!

There is a haunting feeling from this picture that I find fascinating. Take the flares out and (although technically correct) The picture will loose emotion. Thanks for sharing. Its nice to have a good accident on occasion.
I like the picture very much as others do but I can't help but think it would be every bit as good, better in fact, if it was in sharp focus. Possibly if given another opportunity go take a similar photo you might try one in sharp focus and see if you like it as well. I believe the soft mood can still be there even with the soft focus.

you know that when you make a mistake, sometimes it turns out good. I love your shot. the flare makes it even better. you should be happy, it is a lovely shot. deb
Wow! Really?! That's a great shot. Looks nice enough in the small version but it really comes into it's own when downloaded.
So much going on.

I think it works. The soft focus and the softness of the water from the long exposure gives it a serene feel...like a quiet early morning. It would be nice without the lens flare, but it is nice as is also.
Really beautiful. Those occasions when I've forgotten to turn AF back on did not yield such pleasing results.
Thanks for sharing the photo and the story behind it.

Just love the circular flair and orbs! The horizon is pretty much at the first 3rds line and the person in the photo lends nicely to give the image proper scale. Even though it's soft, the whole mood feels calm and serene. I'd put this on canvas. Very nice.
Very nice!
