Not laughing at you Bwrep, rather at the ego of those who think that their photos will mater a bit to the 2050 people who use 3D holographic projections or live in a world so starved for fuel that they burn old prints made by grandpa or grandma.

Whoa Nellie!! I like the phrase "you're business I don't care!" sounds like a frustrated comment that my X would use when she did care and knew she was flat wrong!!

What confuses me if one is after good QC then why would they buy an HP rather than an Epson or Canon printer??? :XD: HP :XD:

Thats OK Richard, if your happy with an HP then it is "your business and I don't care!" Richard, let me live in a fools paradise... at my 78 years then it is a mater of time that Bwrep and I have left. :XD: :-(

I have many times gotten my ink refilled at Costco but many times too the cartridges have also failed. Could be though that they just get too old over time so it's just been refilled too many times.

I've used costco refills for several years and not had the problems that MT Shooter shows in the example pixs. I buy the OEM at costco and refill once. I was warned that refilling them more than one could lead to problems with the cart in the printer. I had reused some more than once and not had any probs, but have listened to the advice to be on the safe side.

Haven't noticed any significant color fade probs unless the pixs were put in the sun for a period of time, but doesn't that happen to everything in the sun?

As I have already stated, the images were close to the same in color when printed. They were posted on my store wall to demonstrate the difference at the time they were printed, which was to show that the Costco colors were a little flat compared to OEM ink. What resulted was the terrible color fading in which the yellow has pretty much disappeared from the print, in just a little over a years time and NOT exposed to direct sunlight at all.

I will have to think again of saving a few bucks on ink.

"Green" is not an inkjet printer color. They use Cyan (Blue), Magenta, and Yellow for color and usually a separate Black cartridge for blacks and greys. Better printers use more cartridges for different shades but they all mix yellow and cyan to get their varying shades of green.
The green in the left picture was just as true as the green in the right picture when these were printed. What you see is the level of color fade with the cheap inks compared to the genuine inks.

First, I am aware of the CMYK colors used in printers. My brain was out of gear when I sent the note. Second, I really didn't read your note that went along with the images. The loss of color in the cheap ink surely is a warning! Thank you.

Ronwande, if green is not an ink-jet color, why does my Canon printer have a a GREEN ink cartage?

You are asking the guy who was chastised for making the mistake.

Color negatives and inks for printers use the subtractive color process. Essentially Cyan plus Magenta plus Yellow inks all applied to paper produce black. The inks are not quite capable of that so Black is added.

Canon went a step further to stretch the "gamut" of colors produced on paper by their printers by adding Red and Green inks. In theory Yellow plus Magenta produces Red. Canon Red ink extends the range of red colors beyond what the two can produce. Similarly the Green ink extends the range of colors that can be produced by Cyan plus Yellow.

Most modern color printers add so called light magenta and light cyan because the print heads don't produce small enough droplets of ink to produce light versions of those colors. Essentially each color fills in a space in the overall color gamut of the image.

I used it with great success for a previous Epson printer. I have a Canon and found that they finally have the capability to refill cartridges for my specific model. They will only refill original cartridges and not after market ones from other vendors.

Very pleased with the quantity and quality of ink used.

Well, as long as we're on the topic of Costco I'm wondering if anyone has ever used Costco photo paper? I see that they sell 300 of the 4"x6" paper for just under $15.00. This is much cheaper than anyone else. I always heard "you get what you pay for". This is their own brand (Kirkland) and I am impressed with the quality of some of the other products they sell I'm not sure about the photo paper. Thanks for your opinions.
I've used Costco glossy photo paper for about as long as they have sold it, both in 4 X 6 and 8.5 X 11 sizes. Considering both its quality and price one couldn't ask for more in a photo paper. Period. John O.

Look at the work done in the building of a printer. So much for so little cash. It entices you to buy it then the hammer strikes. The mind shattering price for simple cartridges. The BROTHER FAX,SCAN, PRINTER is on sale here for £99. Now the unbelievable price for the pack of 4 cartridges right alongside the printer is, wait for it, £57 pounds.I retained my old EPSON 520 printer as there is a chip charger available so all I do is refill the cartridges with excellent ink. I have been using this printer for about 8 years now. The print quality is equal to my BROTHER printer.

Which canon printer do you have? My Canon Pro 100 does not have a green ink cartridge.

Most likely this Canon is a 9000 Mark II...

Mine Too, has a GREEN cartridge - as well as a RED.

Have you not yet realized that printer Canon and Epson must keep moving to survive. It started with 3 colours then 4 then countless colours. They try to convince you that it improves the colours on your print Ha Ha. ;-)
