You might want to look at cotton carriers site. They offer some alternatives to the conventional camera strap.

Here's a link to what should be a very interesting and well-constructed sling strap that you might want to know about and possibly invest in:

Take a look at the "R-Strap" by Black Rapid. It lets your camera hang down at your side instead of in front of you.

Hi all,
I hate my camera strap. For someone new what would be a good alternative? I've searched, and found something about battery grips, but I don't think that would appeal to me either?
As always, thank you for your replies!

I have Upstrap products on all my 35mm cameras. They have a great product and equal service service. In fact, they could be used as an example to teach companies about customer service. It's outstanding.

I've always had good luck with Black Rapid straps. Several varieties, rock solid build and comfortable to wear/use in the field. I use the RS-5 Cargo Strap but I don't think it's still available.

I USE tamrac N45 camera strap which icomes in either brown or black with a foam padded area that goes on the neck area for more comfort. They are about $25.00 at B&H or adorama or amazon.

I have been using a BlackRapids strap for quite a while and have never been comfortable with the attachment through the tripod mount. I have also been concerned that the attachment might come undone and cause my camera to crash to the ground.

I am using this discussion as motivation to get a new strap.

Thanks Hoggers!!!

Has anyone have a opinion on the "Carry Speed" camera straps?

BlackRapid and Optech are the two best. I use strap items from both.

This is also of interest to me. If I may, without hijacking the discussion, also ask for advice on a camera strap that will attach to a RRS L-Bracket but not interfere with tripod mounting.

It's not hijacking that's a problem, but if you post this as a separate question, you will get more suggestions.

I have been using the OpTech shoulder strap that connects to the lugs on the sides of my camera. I like it but while I was hiking a month ago I slipped and my camera took a hit. I am now looking into a Cotton Carrier. What it comes down to is what you will be doing while carrying your camera around. I have always been leery of any strap that connects into the tripod mount because I have heard several stories of cameras coming loose.
Best of luck finding what is right for you!

My favorite is Carry Speed FS-Pro; the kit contains sling style strap, wrist strap (which I use quite often on my Canon 6D), a neoprene system among other things. Unfortunately, the price has gone up quite a bit since I purchased it 6 months ago.

I only use "straps" for tethering - never for carrying - too much flying around ! I use a belt, holster, and suspenders for carrying.
