Buy the Olympus OMD E-M1, not the Sony. The Oly has better everything: EVF, touchscreen/tiltscreen, lens selection (along with Panasonic--Leica selections), in-body 5-axis stabilization, focusing speed, image software, weathersealing, and image quality.

Yes, the OLY is a very nice 4/3 sensor camera with a solid reputation BUT, it is # X the price of a NEX 6, is bigger and the sensor has the same # of pixel's.

I tried the 4/3 camera earlier and compared it then with the NEX 3. IMO the NEX 3 images looked better.

However, don't take anybody's word for what to buy. Go to a store that will allow you "check them out" Take your own SD card and make a few test shots. After that, and if the form, fit and feel good to you - get that camera. In any instance in the right hands I doubt if you could tell the difference apple to apple. BTW, I now have a NEX 6 ($499) I love.

You give sound advice ^^^. So much of this is subjective! I once had a neighbor who asked me what kind of camera to buy for herself... I said to get one that fit into her budget that she liked the looks and feel of, or she'd never use it. She went out and bought a RED (!) Pentax!
Go figure...and, btw, she now shoots about 300 images a week of her two little boys. She couldn't be happier!

I also have the Sony A6000. It is a great camera, although I haven't had it that long & I'm still learning it's various features.

Cameras are not just boxes with digital sensors... So anyone that tells you to buy a camera because the sensor is bigger is just plain wrong and misinformed. Sony's sensors may be larger than the Oly's micro four thirds sensors, but when it comes to build quality, features, overall performance, lens selection, image processing power, image stabilization, viewfinder, weather resistance, ergonomics, AND image quality, etc... In other words, all the reasons why you would even think of making the upgrade from DSLR to mirrorless, you will be hard pressed to find a better overall better upgrade than Olympus' OM-D line of cameras.

I have a Sony A7R full frame mirrorless and like it very much. Due to its relatively small size and weight, I prefer to use it instead of my Canon 5D Mark iii when traveling. I just came back from a 3 week European trip with it and am pleased with the results. I got used to EVF and am comfortable with it. The camera has a very good dynamic range and low noise at high ISO. It probably wouldn't be ideal for sport events but otherwise I would recommend it.

I have Fuji X series cameras and lenses. Love them. When I go out on a photo shoot my DSLR sets at home. I carry my X-E1 and four lenses in a small to mid sized shoulder bag. Image quality of this system is excellent. Saving my money for an X-T1. I will never go back to DSLR.

Whilst I do not have a Sony I have changed across from the OLY E3 and E5 to the OMD EM1, used primarily for Landscape, portrait and e-commerce images, and have not picked either of them up since I started using the EM1.

I love love my fuji xt1 but I still love my 6d just a little more. The one thing that is true is that my fuji xt1 does go with me everywhere since it is very light.

Gave up my Nikon D7000 for the Olympus EM-10 and a Sony RX100II. Both are very capable and lightweight without giving up image quality...and they are just fun to use.

Thinking of going mirrorless.

Hi
I purchased the Sony A6000 in April which I now use instead of my Nikon. I waited 18 months for it and it is a very impressive piece of photographic equipment. I am still learning how to use all the features, I take the camera almost every where with me. I especially like the ability to crop out areas whilst maintaining good quality, the 11 frames/sec also allows for some real candid photos.

Try and see for yourself.

Yes. I have a Sony Rx 100 2. I love it. It's my workhorse and I take it everywhere.
