Hey, I'm envious...your moon shots came out a lot better than mine!

Camera settings can be frustrating to work with at times and I often have to go back and reread the manual. A friend has the D600 and most of the time shoots in the "Auto" or one of the scene modes. He takes marvelous photos too.

That's pretty impressive, especially with that lens! My two comments would be, one, I agree with an earlier poster that you brighten it a little (which you subsequently did, and I liked it better), and leave it the natural gray/white color. I see to many brownish colored moons, and they don't look natural to me. Having said all that, I think you did a really good job! Keep it up!

Thank you dlmorris. I don't know what happened to the revised photo through Picasa, but I didn't know how to get it back. I have to work on this. Now that I know I can crop the way I want in Picasa, I'll concentrate on learning the program. I do love that 55-300 lens and I find I can use it at the 300 end and be happy with the pictures.

Your moon shots were great. I though you might like to see mine from Fairfield too.

Thank you for the compliment Jim. I did check out your web link and I really like those. You even got a 'cheesy' moon in there. Have to remember though, to remove the 's' in the 'https.'

They were clouds in front of the moon.

I set my camera to Manual, and it wouldn't shoot, so then I set it to A for F/11 and then set shutter to 1/250 sec. ISO was set for 200. Again the camera changed the shutter setting. First shot is out of camera, but cropped, no other processing.

The 2nd one is processed with Kodak Photo Gallery, slightly sharpened.

How'd I do?

You did very good!!! You should be proud of yourself. Terri

Thank you jederick. I appreciate your kind comments. I admit I need to really get to know my camera. I just don't have the time now to devote to it. After my move, things will be different and I'll be anxious to learn how the settings work and have plenty of subjects to shoot.

I think these are exceptional Margo. I remember some of my first attempts...they were not very good at all. In fact, I never showed them to anyone. Instead...I just kept trying and trying. I've seen how you've improved in your photography skills since joining UHH. I took some images of the Super Moon, but there was a thin vail of clouds which wiped out all the detail. I was so disappointed...but there's another full moon next month...and the following month...and the month after that....and even more later. You get my drift...:)
